Despite coming out to a fiery reception, and breaking sales records for Blizzard, interest in Diablo 4 has started to wane ever since Season 1’s launch. Even stream viewership has hit rock bottom with a 99% drop-off.

The declining level of interest was most evident in a recent Diablo 4 event, which saw an abysmally low turnout. On September 9, Blizzard Korea partnered with Korean esports broadcaster TEN to host a live show where two teams went head-to-head in Diablo 4.

According to a Redditor on the Diablo 4 subreddit, a streamer who attended the live event was asked to shut off their stream after commenting on his surprise at how few people there were in the stands.

Diablo, WoW, and Overwatch are all dead, CoD is next, no wonder ABK wants to rush this deal through 😂🤣

Diablo is doing pretty badly. Twitch viewership is the most worthless metric friggin ever tho. I’d throw every report mentioning such nonsense in the trash. It just fell below Halo Infinite, the biggest flop in modern history, on XBL. Now that’s… not good

They have some higher up idiots who didn't understand the endgame appeal of the game. Cause no one doing proper market research on this game would come to the conclusion that nerfing xp rates to stretch the grind towards end-game content and builds was the correct solution to lack of varied, repeatable and live endgame content. They thought the nerf would somehow create the time bridge needed until a proper expansion could be released. The result is that people get frustrated with the grind and drop the game instead. Diablo's endgame is literally Uber Lilith and trying out different endgame builds from different classes, hence fast xp rates are needed to reach that goal - access. Instead they nerfed xp rates thinking people would become highly addicted, hooked, and accept the grind with no options for their time elsewhere. Wrong assumption. Talk about living in a bubble - these people are well paid too.
