Nintendo has updated its Nintendo Direct page in Japan which always happens before a future Nintendo Direct presentation goes live. The change to the Nintendo Direct page on their website happened at around 8am JST.

Announce new hardware Nintendo. It is time.
Won't happen unless they could get it out in time for Christmas. Which, at this point, they can't. My personal guess is that at this point its far enough from TotK that they can at least do the basework for setting up Q3/4 releases for success. A list could look something like:

Pikmin 3
Everybody 1+2 Switch (might miss it, Nintendo often chooses not to include EPD 4 titles in their main presentations)
Pokemon S/V DLC (once again, the main reveal is probably going to be in a Pokemon specific Direct, but they can have a small trailer)
Mario Kart 8/mobile DLC and live service shit
Splatoon 3 DLC/live service shit
Fire Emblem DLC shit
And, if you want to get really ambitious, its been 7 years since Odyssey and all that team has released was the 3D World port. Maybe show a "2024" Mario trailer for what ends up being a BotW style multi-system release?

Other than Mario (least likely to show) and Pikmin that's a dog's dinner but hey, thats what happens when you release your biggest title in May instead of November.

Now 2024 on the other hand, thats when stuff is going to shine. New hardware, Metroid, Mario (or DK...), TotK DLC, possibly MK 9 and either Splatoon or Animal Crossing.
