I started playing the first game (not the remaster) again on PC and it's surprising how much they have carried over to the sequel. I didn't expect such a faithful return to Bright Falls. Like the geometry of the diner is the same. There are familial connections between characters in both games I'm interested to get deeper into. Remedy is showing a crazy attention to detail and love for their own history.

I'm extremely surprised that this game is GOTY material. I never saw that coming. Basically 2 games this year that blow out any other developer of any platform is pushing gaming forward (i.e. BG3 and AW2) without being an exclusive.

Your hyperbole doesn't escape us dique blowing out any other developer, in what? Definitely not in scope and Spiderman 2 holds its own in graphics especially doing it while in a big open world. Alan Wake 2 is sitting on an 89 meta for PC while Spiderman 2 is sitting at a 90.

BG3 will run away with this either way.

I'm only in chapter 3, but it feels like the Uncharted: Drake's Fortune of this generation. It's the first time we're seeing a from-the-ground-up next gen game on next gen tech with a linear design tailored to show off the shiny newness. The facial realness, especially of Saga in her "Mind Place" is a big leap toward photorealism, surpassing other stuff I've seen like The Quarry, Last of Us 2, Cyberpunk, etc. I haven't seen anything very original in the combat/weapon design. There's way less combat early in the game compared with Alan Wake 1, which is generally to its credit. I think fans of investigation/detective games like LA Noire or Heavy Rain would vibe on this the most.

Of course it's hyperbole! Run with it!
