Six years after joining Amazon Games as vice president in 2018, Christoph Hartmann , the co-founder of video game publisher 2K, is finally ready to talk about what’s been going on behind closed doors, as the company approaches the September release of its free-to-play MMORPG “Throne and Liberty” and the October launch of the action RPG “New World: Aeternum,” both of which will be available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S consoles.
What can you tell me about when we’ll hear more on the new “Tomb Raider” and “The Lord of the Rings” games, and when those titles will be released?

It’s not going to be tomorrow, but it’s not too far away. As I said, we’re getting into a much more regular cadence of shipping games. That’s all I’m allowed to tell you right now… It’s all about quality. You don’t want to just be rushed out. That’s doesn’t work. It has to be Triple-A quality, because the bar is so high.

Done with Tomb Raider, now even if they pay me they couldn't get me to play their modern garbage. Have some hopes for LoTR but considering its amazon I think some Arson is in order to prevent the legacy being tainted

I need a decent LOTR game so bad. Remember the PS2 ones? They are still the best for me. Along with BFME RTS games.

We could use a new large-scale publisher to be fair. Their TV series are usually good quality, maybe that will reflect in gaming as well.

These people don't get the enduring message behind LoTR and what makes it such a legendary IP. LoTR was the culmination of all the various epic hero's journey legends and tales that have been passed down in history. It is a story of the triumph of good over evil, about unlikely people rising up to occasion with unexpected courage and heroism, about valor in the face of death.

We will get a watered down milquetoast modern take on the story by a writing/Lit major hack who couldn't make it in hollywood

Better than not having one at all I suppose?
No? Keep Amazon away from LotR please.

Words cannot express how much I hated that Amazon series, what a complete abomination.

Tarnish what? LOTR has zero gaming presence
LoTR has the great BFME rts games, the decent return of the king and two towers games. We have the recent mordor series as well which are okay. Not every IP needs to be made into games especially in 2024 and especially LoTR should be kept away from western studios grimy political hands
