DF has a different, largely copium-huffing take than the logical conclusion in the thread title given Chris Dring's conversations with industry leaders at GDC which prompted this DF video.
Note that Chris says it was a major company who released a big game in 2023 and thought why bother with Xbox, but DF capes for Phil and gang, turning the conversation to indies.
Peak cope is Linneman following up his comments that he knows of indie games selling in the dozens of units on Xbox but that big titles still make sense with the claim that the "Series [X/S consoles] has largely been a success. Like a modern success"
If modern success means failure, then yes.
Meanwhile, Yertle the Turtle up top is less reassuring, noting the headlines are negative, but insisting that we need the data. I thought I would help him out:
Xbox Series X/S sales were down 47% in Europe in February
But Helldivers 2 had a big more in a software sense.
