Elden Ring's success has paved the way for Armored Core 6 to launch on a "much bigger scale," Bandai Namco has told GamesIndustry.biz.

Talking to us at Gamescom, Bandai Namco Europe CEO Arnaud Muller mentioned the publisher's heightened ambition for Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, releasing tomorrow.

He attributed this shift in expectations to a combination of FromSoftware's increased popularity following the incredible success of Elden Ring, and the developer's accumulated experience leading to "a new dimension" for Armored Core, ten years after the latest entry in the series.

"This is an opportunity for us to truly widen the audience of the Armored Core games," Muller told us. "My ambitions are not on par with Elden Ring, but our ambitions are way bigger than the previous Armored Core games."

"We really want to take this IP further in the relationship with FromSoftware"
He continued: "Thanks to Elden Ring, FromSoftware has become a seal, a guarantee of quality, and therefore people will see that the Metacritic of this game is great, [that] it's challenging but very rewarding, [and say] 'I wanna try that game'."

The reviews started appearing online during our conversation at Bandai Namco's Gamescom booth, with Armored Core 6 currently sitting at a very positive metascore of 87.

"This is a big step up in this franchise," Muller said. "We are not going to be able to match Elden Ring numbers but we will way surpass what Armored Core previous games have done."

He added: "We have a great game in our hands, the gameplay, the battle system is very loyal to what FromSoftware fans are used to, so we really want to take this IP further in the relationship with FromSoftware. My expectation is that people who have discovered [their] games via Elden Ring will enjoy Armored Core."

I understand what he wanted to say.
But I disagree.

Elden Ring and Armored Core has nothing in common to the point to one help the other widen the audience... they have cleary differente audiences.... who loved Elden Ring won't buy Amored Core just becase that.

Im not an armored core fan nor have I played their games, nor do I like mech games but due to Demon Souls and being exposed to souls like games in general I will be picking up armored core. Just saying for some there is truth to his/her premise. Exposure leads to more sales regardless of the paradigm shift or another game being a diff genre.

Elden Ring was pretty big. It will bring some new eyes to any of Fromsofts old and new games.
I was never day 1 for Armoured Core before, but since Demons Souls-Sekiro etc, Im day 1. Ill try most games that Miyazaki put his name on

I think that he's right on the money, honestly. AC was never a huge seller but not because of quality or niche gameplay, its the same as most games- mindshare and market competition. The fact that the developer is huge in people's minds now changes things a lot and should help the game's sales immensely. Once people try the series I expect most of them to like it.

Well let's wait the sales numbers 🤷‍♂️
If sales explode compared with previous games then I will be proved wrong.
If sales are similar then Elden Ring popularity did nothing at all.

Doubt. I love gaming with all my soul, but shit..gamers might be some of the most uneducated about their hobby then just about any medium.

They barely know who makes their games, shit I'd say us here on forums have a better understanding, but I've read comments where even gamers like that may not be aware of who is making a game, porting it, publishing it, assisting in development etc.

So i just don't know if the vast majority will even know the same team that made Elden Ring, made Armored Core.

I don't see that connection being made. We might know that, but....doubt that majority gamers know this type of information.
