According to documents leaked as part of the major Xbox leak last week, Bethesda expected to make almost $1 Billion in revenue on Starfield alone.

That estimate comes over a four-year span. In year one, the company projected $600 Million followed by $215 Million in year two. Years three and four see the numbers fall a bit as the game’s lifecycle moves on with projections of $50 million and $35 million, respectively.

Originally, the numbers started in FY21, which is when Starfield was first scheduled. However, we can simply push back the years but keep the numbers to get an idea of what the company was expecting.

As of publishing, Starfield has seen over 10 million players explore space. Based on that, it seems likely that Bethesda will hit those revenue expectations. Even if only half of the 10 million players purchased the base $70 version of the game, that’s still $350,000,000. With post-launch support and accounting for the deluxe editions of the game, it could be safe to assume the company will have no problem hitting the projects.

Good luck with that it’s not even going to make half that in year one. It took only 2 weeks for it to completely drop out of the top ten I’m charts, Xbox console sales were down following its release, it’s unlikely to be a goty contender, it’s steam concurrent player count is down like a quarter in 3 weeks since launch. This ain’t it. Bethesda over sold it and Microsoft over estimated it’s value initially. During their last quarterly reporting their expected boost to profits base on starfields release were rather conservative.

That blog post is horribly stupid. There's nothing to indicate half of Starfield's 10mil players bought the game given it's had one of the worst performances on the UK charts for a new release this year, debuting below Fallout 76, and given steam sales continue to decline.

That was before Microsoft and Gamepass happened.
It includes the game releasing on PC, Xbox and PS5.

That is a conservative estimate for Starfield with PS5 and without Gamepass.

It sounds weirdly similar to the famous "Even if only 1% of China buys an xbox one it will outsell the ps4 easily" lol

His article is based on a lot of probabilities and few facts.

5 million lol

we're not even sure that the game exceeded 2-3 million actual sales

I think 3 million is a good estimate right now.
It probably did near 2 million in Europe to be ahead Resident Evil 4 imo.

But I agree the article is about a document leak that shows the game launching on PS5... so it is with more platforms and without Gamepass... it was what Bethesda estimated before.

With Gamepass and lack of major platforms like PS5 it won't hit these numbers anymore.

5 million you're too optimistic
I'm not as sure as you

The game got off to a shitty start everywhere, whether in England, Japan, Spain or elsewhere. even on steam it's still going downhill

recently the game was overtaken by GTA5 and CP2077, a 10-year-old game and a fucking dlc !
even baldur gate 3 came out ahead

Good luck with that 1 billion you speak of, Crook Howard.

I'm thinking less than 3 millions sold worldwide in the first month.

Hearing this projection was prior to Bethesda being acquired by MS and when the game was still on track for PS5 at the time so if that's the case then this is even more funnier. Now it's a big uphill climb for Starfield to make $1 billion. This ain't Skyrim where that game launched on multiple consoles with PS4 leading the sales and then Bethesda down the road kept re-releasing Skyrim on more platforms generating even more huge sales. Pete Hines and Todd Howard made their beds with Microsoft and they're gonna see the outcome of that just probably not the way they were hoping.

You know what's the funny thing about this? The funny thing will be xbotz and dog spencer trying to release midfield to PS5 to recoup their failed investment and dog spencer will lick Sony feet like a dog and beg for forgiveness, after midfield only on xbotz shits LMFAO 🤣 .
I hope they do because it would be hilarious for it to flop there.
