Xbox shutting up shop. Truly heartless with Fallout bringing in massive $$$ thanks to the TV show.

Bethesda France
🇫🇷

it's over!
😔

You probably saw it happening today but it's over at the offices in France. And that also applies to TESO and Fallout among others. So I'm going to use this tweet to say my public goodbyes to people without whom I wouldn't be where I am right now. As for TESO, in 10 years, I have known all the CMs. I went to the premises countless times and met some really kind people and had some unique moments for a gamer like me. Today I feel very sorry for them, even if I imagine that most of them will bounce back, especially when you see the way they are. Particularly Claire-Olga and Géraldine who always had a smile, a kind word. The CM obviously, the latest of which was BlueCactus, and Yu more recently, with whom I spoke practically every day and who faced my legendary sarcasm for so long. They trusted me, gave me many OPs to highlight the game and it is thanks to this, especially recently, that I have been able to stay afloat financially. Beyond the professional aspect, they are really great human beings, always attentive, available, and really very nice and I am sad about the way this adventure ended. That is to say without a sound, nothing at all! We close the curtain and then cut off the power. At TESO's 10th anniversary in Amsterdam, absolutely no one from the FR team on site. We now understand why but for me it's a shame. I wish all these people, and others not mentioned (because Bethesda France had around 15 employees) to be fulfilled in their next job and I will never thank them enough for everything they have given me. I hope we will meet again in other circumstances. Goodbye and thank you
🫡

D.

Too bad for the people losing their jobs, but from a gaming perspective, nothing of value was lost.

What does this have to do with Sony?

Microsoft is one of the world's wealthiest companies and they recently just acquired these guys and girls. Do their shareholders really need another yacht.?

Sony doesn't have trillions of dollars
You know the deal: Sony Too!!!!
Sony is no better than Microsoft because it would do the same as Microsoft did
Sony would not fire its localisation and in-market teams and replace them with AI-powered translations, no. Sony is successful in smaller markets, much moreso than Nintendo, because they localise to the nth degree.

MS wants to be a profitable wealthy company. I assume this company was either redundant after acquisitions or in the red on the books when they acquired them.

That said, I see that Coalition, 343, Playground Games are all hiring. Is there no way they could have found a way to move those employees laid off at Bethesda France to those hiring teams with some localization efforts?

I work for a corporation that has a similar number of employees as MS worldwide and we focus on hiring within and pay for moving expenses when needed. We did that quite a bit when we had to lay off employees during Covid.

I hear what you are saying, I just think the timing really sucks, especially after the success of the Fallout series.

I remember in the UK, with Tescos closing down like 50 stores of something a couple of years back because they only made 500 million profit, cant recall the exact numbers but my goodness, these companies are a bunch of greedy bastards.

Supermarket chain Tesco has confirmed the 43 stores that it will be closing as part of plans to cut costs across the business. It is thought that approximately 2,000 staff will have their jobs cut from March 15th for Express and Homeplus stores and from April 4th for Metros and Superstores. 9 years ago

Timing sucks and it sucks for those employees. If I put myself in their position I would probably cry if it happened to me. All that had work I have given then tossed out the window like a cheap whore 😟

The best thing could happen was Microsoft buying Bethesda, 2 mediocre companies joined together at the hip now. For one thing I hope starfail is not allowed on the store by PS. Slop games should not be listed, they can keep ES and Fallout too
