Speaking to Digital Foundry’s John Linneman in his podcast, Jez Corden — known industry insider — has claimed that Bethesda is planning a redemption arc for Redfall. For reference, you may want to skip to 42:53 in the following video.

Jez said:

I spoke to some Bethesda people, and well I say I spoke to but I eavesdropped [laughs] their conversation at the not E3 events in LA this year and they were talking about sticking with the game. Yeah, they were talking about sticking with the game for years and, you know, they want to give it a ‘redemption arc‘ and stuff like that.”

At the time of writing, Redfall is still doing badly, at least on Steam it’s this way. The charts on SteamDB tell us that a total of 14 players are in the game right now, and the all-time peak of 6,000-ish players dates back to 6 months ago. Though it’s worth mentioning that not even Cyberpunk 2077 didn’t plummeted this hard when it launched, there’s still hope for Redfall, and it mainly comes in the form of Xbox Game Pass.

I assume this is just lip service to eventually develop the dlc content any idiot who spent money on the deluxe edition for and to not get sued for scamming players.

But if you revisit all the Arkane news… they lost what … 70 percent of the dev staff with Redfall? Who’s gonna make it? 343??

Cyberpunk did it.

Gamers are fickle and will play whatever is touted as a good game.

You misunderstood that article, they churned through 70 percent of their staff over the course of making the game, when a person left he was replaced with a new person doing his old job. Those new people are the ones who would be fixing the game.

That said, Jez's evesdropped convo is 4 or 5 months old now, from near the game's launch, the game still has abysmal numbers and I am willing to bet that, with the added data given since then, that they change course and do something else no matter what their initial plans were.

MS is not going to support this game. The game is bad cause of its design. Nothing you can do to fix it.

The redemption arc would be to let it be buried and forgotten from memory, there's no saving that game
