Bluepoint PS5 Exclusive Possibly Spotted in PlayStation Video

Evidence is mounting that the new Bluepoint PS5 exclusive game, which has been in development for a while, is a high fantasy title. The latest “leak” — if we can even call it that — comes from an official PlayStation video, which features concept art that aligns with what was previously unearthed from the Insomniac Games hack.

What we know about the new Bluepoint PS5 game​

Rewind to last December, when players dug through leaked Insomniac Games data and found concept art purportedly from a new Bluepoint Games IP. The art depicted a high fantasy desert setting of sorts. The image was struck down from numerous websites, but a copy can still be seen on X.

Fast forward to this week, when Malaysian minister Gobind Singh Deo visited PlayStation Studios‘ Malaysia office, and posted a brief video of his tour on LinkedIn. For a split second, the video showed a developer speaking to Deo in front of his monitor screen, and hawk-eyed users noticed that the concept art on the screen resembled what they had seen previously in the Insomniac leak.

You can see the art at around 0:22 in the clip on LinkedIn. A zoomed in, pixelated copy can be seen on Reddit.

Bluepoint Games has been tight-lipped about its next project, but has rubbished rumors of Bloodborne remake/remaster by stating that it’s working on an original IP. If the images above are from Bluepoint’s new title, it certainly looks like a fresh undertaking.

There's no "Bluepooint game".

After Demon's Souls they moved to be a remasters/remakes games to be a support team in new, original games, being God of War Ragnarok the first one of them.

Their whole studio was credited in the GoWR credits and they absolutely never said to be working on a new IP, and even less that they are creating it. The leaked Insomniac slide was from when they were starting to work in GoWR, the slide mentioned "original content" as Bluepoint's current projects instead of mentioning a game name or codename.

That slide mentioned that Bluepoint didn't have outsourcing budget (because they a support team, not a lead one). Guerrilla's equivalent page mentioned codenames for games and instead of an artwork they did post a back then recent office photo from their studio website. Meaning, pretty likely when they did that slide Insomniac had no idea what Bluepoint's project (GoWR back then) was or just threw there some random artwork they saw.

They don't have the staff needed to be the lead team of a AAA team and even less a AAA new IP. They don't have creative director needed, the producers needed, the designers needed the narrative needed or the coders needed for it. They are mostly an art focused support / "partner" team now.

In that portion of the you mention video a concept artist is showing stuff from his portfolio in Artstation.

We can see there some artwork he did for the birthday of the Prime Minister of Malaysia:

The motion capture video is from a Spider-Man 2 scene (notice the filename text in the bottom).

I didn't identify where this artwork is from, but very likely is also an old job from one of the PlayStation Studios Creative Arts Malaysia concept artists:

But who knows, it could be the game of the concept art Insomniac did put on their slide about Bluepoint independently if Bluepoint was going to work in that game as support after GoWR or not.

Wonder what that Military shooter is shown at 23 seconds.
It isn't from a game, as explained in the post above it's a random artwork he did for their PM's birthday. He says in his Arstation page:

"Wawasan 2020 - Tanah Tumpahnya Darahku
A Malaysian soldier concept on Malaysia's Prime Minister birthday; Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad. Lightly inspired by Malaysia's very own legend, the Hantu Pocong."

Incorrect, there is a Bluepoint game in development, an original project. Not sure if it's single player or gaas, but they're definitely working on their own game (not a remake or remaster) and it'll be revealed in the next 1-2 years.

Likely, it will be a few years before we hear of it.

With how Sony is marketing, we will likely hear of it same year of its release or 1 year out.

There is something weird going on with Bluepoint. Seeing them grouped with Nixxes and Valkyrie is strange for sure. Best case scenario we're gonna get a God of War spinoff from them but at this point I wouldn't be surprised if I don't know Ghost of Tsushima 2 is announced and then we find out that Bluepoint helped with the development. It would be technically not a lie that they were working on an original title, just not their own.

We know bluepoint codeveloped Ragnorok, so they have the knowledge. I just hope they find a way to make the kid likable

At this point I don't even feel this studio is doing anything lol. They went from being Insomniac level of efficiency to not being able to announce a stand alone project since 2020

What I said is correct.

As can be seen in the GoWR credits or in their LinkedIn, Bluepoint can't be leading a AAA game because they don't have any game director, any creative director, don't have a big enough teams for production, design, narrative/writing, programming etc. required to lead a AAA game. Their team is mostly made of mostly artists, has the structure/staff of an art focused support team, not a lead dev team.

Sony also recently made a recap of their studios and did put them in the group of the support teams. Not in the groups of 3 lead dev teams of SP games, MP/GaaS games or both SP&MP games.

After Demon's Souls they moved to work in original games, but as a support team and not as a lead team. As was it the case in GoWR. After GoWR they are working as support team in other new/original game leaded by someone else.

There is nothing weird, Bluepoint is a support studio who moved from making remasters or remakes (the most recent ones for Japan Studio) to work as support team in original/new games, being the first of them GoWR.

Their staff are mostly artists and don't have the people required in many areas to lead a AAA game, and even less (as someone guessed/mentioned) a new IP. So they aren't leading any game, spinoff or anything else. As Sony said and as can be seen looking at their staff, they're a support team of a new game as they did in GoWR.

Which game? Who knows. I assume that since they did the God of War HD Collection and worked in GoWR, they may be working again with SSM again. That would mean, in the next SSM game to be released, which I think will be Cory's new IP. Which could be the "Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet" game that Sony registered back in February.

But can be anything else, like GoT2 or any ND/Insomniac/Bungie/Haven/Firewal/Bend/etc game.

It would of been good if they got the same director (Im guessing Xdev now) to do a Ico remake. And some of the old team. They have good programmers and engineers. It would be alot easier than SOTC and Demons Souls remake to make.

The Demon's Souls remake creative director was from the XDEV Japanese team (formerly Japan Studio): Gavin Moore, the one who previously directed the great Puppeteer.

Months after releasing Demon's Souls, he left Sony to get hired by the mobile gaming publisher & developer Scopely.

Bluepoint moved from working on remakes to work on new games. I assume as an intermediate step to somewhere in the future lead their own games, something they still aren't ready to do because need a bigger team specially in several areas.

But yes, they are very talented. Before joining Bluepoint many of them worked in top tier new games as were the Metroid Prime games, Donkey Kong Returns, Mario Kart 7, Diablo 2 or WoW, plus some people came from ND or Insomniac.

I'd love to see them growing the studio to the point that they would be able to both lead their own new games and at the same time having another team working on remakes. I'd like to see them remaking Ico, God of War 1 and Uncharted 1 in the future. But as of now, they are working as support team in a new game.
