I said it in another thread but remember when titanfall 1 was hyped by the media as the "next cod" and going to save the xbox one? It boosted sales for a month then became irrelevant afterwards. I feel like this will be COD if they actually decide pull it off playstation. 5-6 years from now is an eternity in gaming and a new online game seemingly comes out of nowhere every year, multiverse being this years surprise hit. Anyways i think the ship has sailed for battlefield, unless the new one is absolutely mind blowing, which i doubt because EA.
Next year when COD takes a year off is the year you want to launch a new service game and i dont think a new battlefield will be ready by then. If its not exclusive it doesnt help sony all that much anyways. Sony miiight be able to get their foot in the door with the last of us online game assuming it launches next year.
The only way i could see Battlefield taking advantage of Cods absence on playstation and it also benefit sony is they enter an agreement to co publish battleifield like they have like steller blade, rise of the ronin, and kotor remake.
I agree. Although I do think a battlefield game jointly published by Sony and ea would turn a lot of heads, assuming the game itself looked good. Something closer to battlefield 4. It’d actually be a brilliant counter imo.I agree with the comparison to Titanfall.... putting it as an Xbox exclusive initially doomed the series to never reaching COD heights.
COD has already been on a steady decline, with only MW2019 giving a short reprieve.... Xbox owning is will exacerbate it and making it exclusive again will cause it to fall even further.
I can see COD going from a 15 million seller in an average year (MW2019 sold 30 but that is not typical anymore) to selling under 8 and eventually under 5 and less in about 5-7 years.
I don't think Battlefield will recover from all their missteps and EA is the wrong partner for Sony. I would just recommend continuing with Deviation to make a blockbuster shooter..... let them release every 3 years with a campaign and then a multiplayer that drops a little later that lasts for the entire 3 years (hopefully)
It just needs to be the military style, high attention to authenticity, fast paced...COD style combat.
Then they could have Socom or Factions or even MGO if they wanted as an alternative military style shooter in 3rd parson.
Destiny and Bungies new shooter are gonna be there too.
I have a feeling Deviation Games will have their FPS ready in 2023 or 2024I said it in another thread but remember when titanfall 1 was hyped by the media as the "next cod" and going to save the xbox one? If COD goes exclusive to Xbox, EA would have a huge opportunity to be a dominant military first person shooter on PlayStation. CEO Andrew Wilson isn't wrong. This is why he and EA want the deal to go through because it will benefit them greatly.
EA would still have to be careful or at least the gamer would.. With no competition on PS for fps, the less EA have to try to win ps gamers over, not to mention they could riddle the game with mtx cause you would not have a choice for another fps . Its not like you would be able to swap disc and put in cod.Agreed.
If they are able to put out a good BF title by then is another thing entirely lol
