Circana: Helldivers II US sales went up yet again during its 3rd week in market. An honest-to-goodness inverse decay curve so far.

Yeah this is the type of sales curve you RARELY see from a game nowadays, unless it's an indie that blows up like Lethal Company.
Helldivers 2 still had a decent launch numbers and marketing for a month before the release.

I honestly don't get it. Guess it's a fun game but it feels like it was bought based on memes and FOMO.

Atypical sale curves are often the byproduct of FOMO/huge WoM spreading like wildfire.
Streamers being more linked with the PC audience also means that it happens more often on Steam/PC than consoles.
WoM also can go wayyy faster because everyone online with their friend groups on discord.

Just think of how many games "come out of nowhere" stuff like Palworld/Valheim/Lethal Company, etc...

I hope many publishers and devs out there are seeing this, and take away that “Fun” always wins over “Strategic Engagement Initiatives” when deciding a games path.

Nah Execs live in their own little bubbles, that won't happen

Same phenomenon as Palworld, It's a fun game but those nam memes about malvelon creek is giving it the hype
It's nothing like the Palworld fake hype. Helldivers is a legit great game and it's selling based on the quality of the gameplay.

Palword was just dumb memes and they lost 90% of players after 2 weeks. Nobody will remember it at the end of the year. It's dead.

The game is all about fun and never takes itself seriously. It’s the most fun I had with a multiplayer game since….. wait… I’d never had any fun playing multiplayer games before.
