Destiny Project Lead Catarina Macedo, previously at Riot Games, went on to X/Twitter to address community concerns over the raid launching just 3 days after expansion launch on June 7.

The community often desires more time to sit with the expansion and campaign, to become familiar with changes to the game and sandbox. With the new prismatic subclass a major shakeup is expected.

What was revealed is that reasoning for this decision is that campaign completion is tied to players clearing the raid for the first time in contest mode as the raid boss is “The Witness.” This will unlock the final campaign mission.

“Back in August, we said that finishing the campaign would not be the grand finale of the Light and Darkness saga. You will be facing off against the Witness in the raid, and for non-raiders there will be an opportunity for everyone to experience the conclusion sometime after the raid.”

Macedo further teases a post campaign component. In the Forsaken expansion an even bigger endgame zone was hidden in the post campaign. Current leaks and rumors indicate a new 12-player mode.

“The Final Shape expansion is different: the additional content in the Pale Heart post-campaign and unlocking the raid for everyone is important for getting a cohesive and satisfying story experience. We're looking at you raiders to be the tip of the spear 👀

“Episode 1: Echoes” of the new live service model kicks off the following week. That is an entirely new narrative and separate purchase and most likely the beginning of the road to Destiny 3 in whatever form that eventually takes. We have very little information on the Episodes.

Luke Smith teased in the last reveal showcase news on what’s next will be coming in summer.
