Steam Database statistics have revealed that Destiny 2 has had its lowest player count in franchise history, hitting a 24 hour peak of 38,059 players. After a series of layoffs, problems at Bungie continue with the game losing a large number of users and not met its goals."

The last week before a new season is the lowest point. I barely logged in these last two months. They’ve been trending lower with each new season this year. I took note of this months ago in one of my reviews when I saw record lows coming. So lowest should actually be this week but sometimes they do a final story gimmick that gets players to log in.

We’re pretty much at curse of Osiris levels. Which is under 500k players a day with 435k player in pve yesterday and 330k in PvP according to trackers. This year’s seasonal direction is ass. The linear storytelling in the weekly episodes is not a fun as the thematic driven ones we had last year (fucking pirate ships in space that shit was dope). Also note that lowest steam player count ever is not exactly the same as lowest point ever (Curse of Osiris Year 1) as d2 launched on steam two years after that.

This last season sucked too. I wrote of a review and I might post but it’s over in a few days anyway. No exotic quest this season is actually less content than usual.

Yea I know players say good things about this one but you actually didn’t even have to buy it to get the best stuff (checkmate PvP modes and the remastered crota raid from d1). So if you don’t even have to buy the season… that means it’s garbage. This year feels like filler and work in progress to rebuilding the game again for final shape. It’s kinda a shitty feeling

Killing weapon grinds and loot chases with blueprints is also something need to back away from asap. It sounds good and players said they want it but it’s one of those things that’s antithetical to the game’s actual design. There’s no reason to play new seasonal activities more than once when you can buy everything with in-game currencies earned and horded from any source just by visiting the vendor weekly. This is the same as slamming tokens in year 1.

There’s a lot of current vibes reflective of year 1. It feels like it. Warmind and Whisper of the Worm are what really saved the game then. That lead into forsaken. They need something that hits as hard as Whisper did. That was a top 3 all time destiny moment. Probably my personal favorite outside my very first vault of glass run 9 years ago. A unannounced hard as balls secret mission that required luck to even get a chance to try filled with mazes and op enemies.

Next week’s season launch needs to be a banger and the Final Shape delay to do what Witch Queen’s delay did.

There’s compounding issues here. Not just pricing models and players like to ignore the failings of the game’s director and just blame Pete parsons. Not true. Destiny director Joe Blackburn is the dude that owns this filler year.

It is indeed filler too. They added a year and en expansion leading into the last expansion of this story.

They need to drop content quick. I dont know why they still do that mid season event with Eve every season, its such a waste of time and people usually bail around that point in the season. They need to come up with better mid season content to satiate people to end of season.

The free events are such junk. The best version was the original haunted forest since it made better use of Mercury content. Crimson days had doubles in multiplayer which is would be nice to have.

Now both holiday events and iron banner (sbmm in 6v6 modes can go die) are indicators to me of when NOT to play. They might get me on a weapon chase or two but not really since I already had the gundam sniper godrolled from last year…

I don’t think it’s even frequency of content drops, amount of content or length of seasons. Playlist and seasons need reworks. Yea yea they said that shit is coming.

It’s the destiny cycle at this point. Hoping the next version has expansions every other year instead of every year. Better off focusing on the live game and taking their time with the bigger stories. That’s what we assume is happening but we shall see in time.
