I had no idea Digimon was still going.
What was the other ones like it and Pokemon back in the day? Beyblades? Monster Rancher?
I remember some jock in school who never played games, tried showing off saying he has pokemon and it was monster rancher lol

Are Beyblade and Monster Rancher like Pokémon at all?
I know first Digimon game was a Tamagotchi in TV that was not like Pokémon at all... Pokémon was always catch monsters... both games released pretty close to each other (in west it was both in 1998).
But I don't remember Monster Rancher and Beyblade (this one I remember the anime).

In 1974, the late Hiroki Onoda was relieved of duty, and returned to Japan with a heroes welcome.

Onoda-san had spent nearly 29 years believing the war had not ended, and engaging in guerilla warfare against the natives of Lubang Island. He was dedicated to his secret mission with the unwavering belief that Japan was still fighting, and would not surrender until his commanding officer from 29 years prior personally flew to Lupang and relieved him of duty.

I was not alive in 1974 to experience Onoda-san's story; however, when I browse gaming forums, I feel it resonate even today.
