For the price of the Activision merger, MS could have distributed 233M Series S consoles.

They are still making the next gen Xbox, the brand is pretty strong in NA (American racists and dumbass patriots help a lot). Too afraid to quit and concede the console market to Sony. They know they can't outsell PS in any generation.

It could be a Cloud-Only console. I wouldn’t bet on a traditional hardware. Microsoft never cared about Hardware. They want just one thing: binding people to subscription services.

At some point you have to figure they would give up. You’d think.

Like Jobs said: They are opportunistic. They keep coming back.

The fact that they can operate on losses forever until the competition screws up means they’re not going anywhere soon.

They could have owned a decade of COD games outright. That would have made more sense.
Now they own it forever and all the profits go to them regardless of where it's made.

Money hating is a terrible strategy in comparison to acquisitions.

The money was not expend on some exclusivity that will expire, it was spent on studios and IPs that now MS owns. Bethesda and ABK studios are drastically better and more relevant than the stuff MS had previously.
