Why Does The PC Port Take So Long

It's about polishing the game and also because the PC is more powerful it allows them to add more including adding more to cutscenes. Also, the obvious PC's have different configs in comparison to consoles. He also mentions they focus on the Playstation rather than the Xbox. Once both are sorted out the team focuses on the PC version.

PC is making progress when the question is even been addressed at all.

Hence the problem.

Can’t disagree with anything said. PlayStation being target platform makes the most sense. One of the many reasons it pays to be market leader.

Without a new GTA online to launch with pc version will include more risk due to piracy. This will be mitigated a bit by launching on console first as well. There’s not a dev in the industry that doesn’t understand that pc gamers are filthy disgusting thieves.

It’ll also be easier to push the limits of console hardware where most pc users are not playing on ps5 level hardware. Consider optimization issues and the general clusterfuck that is pc gaming.

What’s the issue?

They give priority to the version that will sell the most, in this case the PlayStation, as has often been the case.

What's more, this gives them the time to do things right and optimize the PC version as they should be, with a wide range of settings (look at RDR2), rather than just making a dumb port like most other publishers do.

And above all, all this allows them to sell the game over and over again, because they can do it. In short, they're a win-win situation, and anyone else would do the same thing if they had the chance. Everything he says is logical and makes sense.

I wouldnt say that pc gamers are thieves in general; however, the platform is very open to theft (and pc gamers are a very hard to please bunch so sales aren't guaranteed). It takes a lot more work to make things come out un-busted on pc and people whine if you make the min specs too high. So why spend all that effort when console is the low hanging and much juicier fruit? This calculus was why a lot of games used to have delayed release on pc.

Where it’s at.

Yes, but PC gamers are whiny, entitled little bitches who want to be the top priority even though they know goddamned well that PC is not where the money is.

Then a good chunk of them will just pirate it. Plenty will also wait for deep sales.

By delaying the PC release, R* gets people to double dip and delays having to deal with the piracy issue to when the bulk of console sales have already happened.

Very true.
