Ex-Rockstar Games dev says GTA6 realism will “Blow People Away”

According to the dev, the team is likely focused on bug-fixing and ensuring the game works. As an example, he mentioned how some players try to “mess around” and complete missions differently – something that the devs need to account for.

He was also asked what he’s most excited about when it comes to GTA 6’s release now that he’s on the outside looking in.

“I think seeing where it was when I left and playing that final version and how much, if anything, has changed. How much things have changed,” he said. “I was privy to a lot of new things, content and story and stuff. I just love to know how that’s evolved and how it’s come out the other end.”

When asked if players will be “surprised” by what Rockstar is going to unveil, Hinchliffe indicated that the realism in particular will set it apart.

“You only have to look at how every game Rockstar has done has evolved in some way. You could argue that every element of the game moves forward in terms of feeling more realistic and people acting and behaving more realistic as every game is iterated through each cycle.”

“It will blow people away. It will sell an absolute ton as it always does. People have been taking about it for ages after GTA 5 and I’m really excited for people to get their hands on it and play it, just because I think [Rockstar] has raised the bar again just like they always do.”

Personally, I'm not worried about the quality of the game. Rockstar Games have released nothing but masterpieces in recent years.

I just hope it arrives at the end of 2025 and isn't delayed until 2026. We've waited long enough since 2013 (GTA V).

Not sure realism is what I'm seeking more of in GTA VI but either way, very excited to play it.
I hope they don't push the realism thing too far like they did with RDR2. Personally I loved RDR2, but I know there are some people who didn't like the realism of RDR2, for some even thought it was too much.

I'm not against realism either, but GTA has always been a fun game where you could do anything in it, so I hope they've kept a good balance. It has to remain a fun game whether you're playing solo or online.

We've seen the step up from 7th gen GTA5 to RDR2 in 8th. I expect nothing less since it has been 8 years since.
There are claims of it showing up and confirming PS5 (Pro) marketing at Keighly so hopefully more info soon.

Exactly this! Realism is good when it comes to stuff like that doesn't affect the actual gameplay. But I still want my rag doll physics, over the top actions silly missions and side quests, I still want over the top chaos. I don't want to be told my car is overheating or gotta go getting gas, like that horse crap in RDR2 with it having it's one health and stuff

Exactly.

All GTAs are fun games and they need to stay that way. So I hope Rockstar hasn't forgotten that.

Were almost at the 1 year Anniversary of the trailer reveal. What are the odds we get another trailer before the end of the year?

Doubt it lol.

Next Spring but who knows maybe we'll get one at the Game Awards but highly doubt.

If it's coming next fall then I'm betting on around March

Realism isn't exactly a word that really interests me in terms of fiction, fantasy and media in general.. (In fact sometimes it outright worries me) Will it be a fun, deep sandbox game with lots of offline content, including story that doesn't take itself too seriously again? (like the last two mainlines) That's what i really care about. I don't want an interactive drama movie. I'd really like to see the crime empire building elements return. Hopefully by the next one, AI will be developed enough for heavy dynamic elements at all levels and aspects.

Also RETURN THE GODDAMN NO WANTED LEVEL CHEAT! I love messing around and just having fun and the new game's cheat system makes punching in a code for something like that ridiculous. The fact that there was a few minute version in each of the last two games, doesn't fill me with hope. They took the time and yet refused to add it fully. Part of the "realism" crap i don't want and maybe cucking to fears of media backlash.

Yeah I hope we don't see too many SIMS features in it. And I bet they'll limit cheat codes again like they did in GTA V. I just hope the world isn't as bland as the one in GTA V after we did the main story and character quests.
