(FYI) Hideki Kamiya on the future of Bayonetta Series:

"The Bayonetta series would consist of a total of 9 episodes and I wanted to grow the franchise as the "Bayonetta Saga" [I envisioned] but it seems like I might have to take the whole saga to the grave with me."

It's not like I own the Bayonetta IP, but I suppose those who do will probably keep it going."

One of the few games that switch hype and momentum didn’t help sales much at all either. It occupies the same space No More Heroes does…. I’ll be surprised if Nintendo signs the next game exclusive. It’s not succesful at all.

Eh, that’s okay. Smash bros. exposure should’ve helped recognition but Bayonetta isn’t exactly a match for the Nintendo demographic. A kid friendly game might do well? Unless it’s out and bombed already? I’m not interested but I see how they didn’t think it was the worst idea.

I’m a Bayonetta fan and was interested in Cereza. It’s a great game and one of the best games of the year. This was just a bad year to come out and it got buried under bigger releases

what's up with people on this forum trying to label everything as unsuccessful or a flop? selling 1m-3m is definitely successful..... Do you guys compare everything to GTA? We wouldn't have gotten 3 games, a spin off, and soon a 4th game if it was an unsuccessful series.

We got everything after Bayo 1 only because someone at Nintendo liked it and wanted more of them. At best the games have broken even, which is not enough because successful games also have to bot turn a profit and carry the failures.

lol this makes no sense, that’s not how things work. Miyamoto himself said he missed FZero and wants another game. By your logic we would’ve had more F-Zero games but there hasn’t been one in almost 20 years. No new Donkey Kong game at all this generation either. Greedy Nintendo isn’t the type to do things just to break even…

They tried in the Wii U era, the studio reached out to (Criterion) turned them down.
