This looks dope, i love the art style they are going with. The last thing i want to play is some dreary ass london shooter.

This looks like it could fill that splatoon/Sea of Thieves niche for Sony.

Yet recently all the talks are about online games. Do they really need 5 or 10 of them? Even GT7 is being fucked for being online, when most of it is single player and could be played offline.

God of War Ragnarok, Spider-man 2, Call of The Mountain, Rise of The Ronin, Stellar Blade, Wolverine, Star Wars…..wouldnt be surprised if Death Stranding 2 is the next game they announce

Following the release of returnal, ratchet, Horizon, TLOU1 remake…

The “where am my single player games” argument currently has absolutely no merit.

Gran Turismo is 100% a live service game however. And it should be? Execution is up to debate but Sport was a great game when it was all said and done I just have no interest this go around.

Most of these new online projects are from new partnerships and new startup studios too. I mean… seems like we’re potentially getting more than before eh?

No, online service games are going to be only around a third or less of the Sony games under development. And that includes games like GT or MLB which have a very strong single player content.

Not for me personally but the image looks interesting.

It's only a concept art image but yes, seems interesting. I like to see them working on a more traditional game not focused on accesories or weird tech (VR, mics, camera etc) and with combat.

Thought this was interesting

There was so much variation in the many concepts we discussed, but for us it was about creating something that the team as a whole was really passionate about. We did a lot of surveys with the team about what ideas they were drawn to the most, and also which ideas the wider PlayStation Studios leadership team felt most passionate about.

We reached out to some sister studios for their input, and finally, we actually did some proper market research. We polled hundreds of gamers in the UK and the US for their feedback as well—and all of these different inputs and perspectives all culminated in the project we’re working on now.

Seems like they did a good bit of fielding public and internal interests for what people wanted out of all the concepts they had. They mention Guerrilla several times and their jump from Killzone to Horizon, and mentioned discussing this game with them as well. Seems like they were a big inspiration for them wanting to jump into a new genre and make a big name for themselves.

Love the fact that they are using the Blood & Truth engine for this also, keep the proprietary engines going for first party titles.

I’m pretty excited by the look of this im not gonna lie. I’ve been desperately craving something aesthetically different from sonys 1st party studios. I hope Pixelopus’ next game also has a unique animated look to it.

Ill be the first to admit GAAS/Online games do nothing for me. With that said, the piece of concept art and christopher drings comment that it reminded him of fable, makes this somewhat promising if they can pull it off.

They are probably just trying to get a few to stick and experimenting because more than likely they know quite a few or more wont do well. They just need a few to do well if it makes big money.
GT7 was great but your right it got alot of hate for microtransactions etc.

But I think if these online games will probably be free + microtransaction they will be better accepted. Like Fortnite, Apex Legends, The online only Cod game etc. Or even GTA online ( you have to pay for it? Not sure ) Destiny 2 is now free to play right?

Im not really an online gamer much, I enjoyed Destiny but I mainy play Single Player games. As long as they dont stop making/releasing games like Bloodborne, God of War, Ratchet, Returnal, TLOU, Shadown of Collosus, Uncharted, Ghost of Tsushima and some new single player IP then, Im good with them making some online games or games they dont normally make.

Tbh if factions 2 is also PVE and has some survival mechanics like 7 days to die etc, team work against computer not just PVP then Im all down To try it. If they make story driven coop levels which is rumoured ( like RDR2 Online, GTA online ) sweet

I just hope we get some new IP with some single player games from Naughty Dog, Cory Balrogs team etc. Last gen was great

im slightly more ok with these service games if they have good PVE and story elements tied to them. I’m sure sony are gonna use their strength in single player and big set pieces to set the standard for their multiplayer stuff. I also assume they will be using them in other media as well so it makes sense for them to have their own unique identities.

Also, i know a lot of peopel think a lot of these games will ‘fail’ but the hardcore enthusiast market of gaming pundits are usually pretty off the mark with these type of things. Games can be successful without being Apex, or Fortnite level successes. Stuff like Fall Guys, Rocket League, Sea of Thieves, Among Us, are still fairly popular even if they aren’t the center of conversation. If this game can average like 4-6 million a day on a steam and another 2-3 million on playstation thats really good.

I think a lot of sonys multiplayer games will find success in that realm, with maybe a couple being more explosive like Bungies new game or Factions.

I'm not saying this is a Fortnite clone.... I have not seen enough of it.

But that All Stars Destruction game was kinda Fortnite in cars in a small arena......

I all of these live service games are just Fortnite style games with different twists, I will be pissed at the amount of waste and lack of vision.

I assume thats how a lot of them will be. London Studio are like the kings of big set pieces outside of ND…blood & truth was like a thrill ride so i expect a lot from this game in the same regard.

Well this is mostly PVE so it won’t really be like DAS or Fortnite. This will probably be closer to Destiny
