Is there a reason Sony/PlayStation is so lenient with people pirating there games through emulators on PC?

Nintendo can be over kill with stuff like OST but when it comes to people pirating there games, Nintendo does a better job protecting them.
Or at least try against piracy more. Sony should definitely too

Do you mean Sony PC games?

Because there is no PS5 pirated game yet.
And PS4 has a lot of issues like having an old machine with default old firmware (you should not have upgraded firmware any time).
PS3 maybe but you have a lot of issues running the games.

Seems like PlayStation is fine in terms of piracy... at least they delay it for decades.

Nintendo's current gen gets emulated which translates to lost revenue.
Sony's last gen gets emulated where they already made money during its actual glory days.

BIG difference. The financial impact for Nintendo is WAY higher.
Exactly... PS4 & PS5 has basically no piracy yet.
PS3 well... it is not like PS3 emulator is a decent software yet but you can call it playable.

But Sony have a big issue with piracy on PC releases... that is true.

Extremely niche scene. PS3 emulation requires a monster PC to run software that is not even on its 1.0 version.
I doubt the new top end AMD CPU can hold solid 60 fps in god of war 3 or GT6. Mainly due to software.

PS4 emulation just started, and if Sony ports the big games remaining there's no need for it.
Vita3k still pretty new

PS1 PS2 and PSP are ancient platforms. They don't care.

Yeap.

If we have emulators for PS5 right now playing launching games then you could see an even more strong take against it from Sony than Nintendo.

That is why Nintendo is going all in.
They never cared about NES, SNES, N64 and GC emulation in the past... but emulators are emulating Switch games at day.

Nintendo is primarily going after Switch emulation which can run on a toaster and play games better day 1 than the actual hardware.

Not possible with PS3, PS4 or PS5.

If an emulator for ps5 would exist, it would instantly melt any CPU. :D

Gravity Rush 1 & Bloodborne w other PS first party game available for free through the emulator ShadPS4 on PC.

Such a stark difference from Nintendo ig that would explain Nintendo having 3x the profit w 1/3 of the revenue & overall Nintendo seeing massive growth while also leading the console market.

Because Sony tried this twice in the 90s/early 2000s with Sony v Bleem and Sony v Connectix and lost both times
You may as well ask why Microsoft doesn't go after Xbox emulation: its the same reason. Nintendo are outliers in terms of being aggressively litigous, and so far Nintendo hasn't actually brought emulators to court; all of the emulation devs have settled because lol who has money for legal fees. Sony COULD decide to harass the shadps4 people on it, but if the shadps4 people decide to actually go to court, Sony would lose.

Because developing emulators for Nintendo vs. PlayStation are apples and oranges.

Take Switch for example, it uses hardware which is substantially older and more well documented than what's in a PlayStation. It's got ARM processors, and uses a Tegra architecture (which is just, incredibly well documented).

Because of this, emulation was much faster and more reliable than anything on PlayStation. You mention Bloodborne, but even that has not had a fully playable emulation since release. It only just got possible to get past the launch screen this year. By comparison, you can crack a game on Switch and have it running on your Steamdeck really really fast. Thus, the potential for lost revenue is substantially higher.

It's not switch emulation what bothers Nintendo. It's switch 2. They are trying to strong arm emulator developers because they know switch 2 emulation must be simple AF.

People are also forgetting that ShadPS4 needs some ip protected libraries (copied from the PS4) to run, and it is much harder to retrieve or find such files than it was for Yuzu.

Even worse with sony because they are STILL SELLING bloodborne. I 100% bet it still would sell some consoles. Especially if they EXCLUSIVELY PORTED IT TO PS5.

They should be aiming to fully control and protect their IPS from every angle.

The only place to play their games, should be their console.
Did they even do something against the ones playing and sharing Wolverine?

unfortunately, this Sony is long gone, you have now a modified Xbox approach, the only difference is that they’ll have an exclusivity window, but that’s all, everything is timed, they no longer play the long term game
