I can't think of a year with so many bangers.
-Deadspace Remake
-RE4 remake
-Hogwarts
-Diablo 4
-Street Fighter 6
-Mortal Kombat One
-Final Fantasy XVI
-Starfield
-Spider-man 2
-Baldur's Gate 3
-Jedi Survivor
-Forza
-Assassin's Creed
-Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
-Armored Core VI
-Avatar
-Alan Wake 2
-Age of Wonders 4

Even the 2nd stringers are amazing:
-Granblue Fantasy Relink
-Hyper Light Breaker
-Honkai Star Rail
-Yakuza/Like A Dragon - Man who erased his name
-Payday 3
-Metal Slug Tactics
-Horizon Call of the Mountain
-RE8 VR mode, (potentially) RE4 VR mode
-The Plucky Squire
-Remnant 2
-WH40K Space Marine 2
-Gloomhaven Console port
-Eiyuden Chronicles Hundred Heroes
-Cities Skylines 2
-Ghost Trick
-Lies of P
-Bomb Rush Cyberfunk
-Sea of Stars
-Pikmin 4
-Humanity/VR
-Ryza 3
-Wo Long
-Octopath 2
-Sons of the Forest
-Kerbal Space Program 2
-Destiny 2 expansion
-Horizon FW DLC
-Cyberpunk DLC
-GT7 VR
-Metroid Prime remaster
-Fire Emblem Engage
-Hifi Rush

I'm sure I've forgotten some but I feel like this is the best year in gaming we've had in a long time?

If you want truly massive games then 2017 probably still has this beat, I can't remember the year's secondary titles anymore though.

It has the potential to be but that will depend on how many games are going to live up to expectations.

It looks pretty damn strong so far.

Uncharted LL
DOS:2
Shadow of War
Xenoblade 2
Splatoon 2
Dishonored DLC
Crash remake trilogy

Glad I could be first to post this great meme....

It's a great year for sure but not the best when it comes to my individual taste so far... that could change.

Yeah, delays played a part on it though. And that great game list doesn't have the true goty System Shock Remake. One heck of a game.

I think its getting close to 2004 or 2007. I won't even mention 1998 because that's the greatest year ever like 1973 was for rock music.

And we don't even have the indie darling of the year that comes out of nowhere and becomes a hit. Typically on PC first and then it hits consoles.

I don't know about the last 2 gens but for this gen this has been the strongest year yet, its gonna take some time to play through all those games you've listed. I hope they have saved some for 2024 though.

BotW - played around 20h. Good game but didnt finish. Cant score overal. 9
Mario Odyssey - played 2,3 hours. Overrated as F.
Horizon Zero Dawn - platinumed. Solid 8/10
Cuphead - nothing special
RE 7 - couldnt finish. Boring. Appreciate effort. Village s much better for me. Much more variety.
Destiny 2 - was barebones at launch. Nothing special.
Nier: Automata - overrated. 7/10. Looked like ps3 game. Barren wasteland. Combat was flashy, zero substance. Stopped in middle of route B. Im not playing game 5 times to see whole story.
Sonic Mania
AC Origins - great ac. 8.5
Uncharted LL - great uncharted 8.5
DOS:2
Shadow of War , mediocre. Nothing special
Xenoblade 2
Splatoon 2
Dishonored DLC - lol
Crash remake trilogy - solid remake. Played few hours. Some things re better left in past.
Hat in Time
Mario/Rabbids
Mario Kart 8 switch - great game.
Gravity Rush 2- solid 6.5

And sure, PUBG and Fortnite (probably the hottest game around for a solid three or four years.)

This year s better, for me without question. 2017 s hyped because of switch launch. For nintendo fanboys, sure its best eva.

Last year was probably my favorite years ever. Witch queen , Elden Ring, Ragnarok…. All my favorites dropped bangers.

This one is just as great as follow up mostly wtf SF6.

I don’t value Totk much this year tho. REHASH

Sony first party wise I think it's actually been one of the worst, with 2024 not looking any better. I think Final Fantasy and Starfield will save this year for me.

Yeah, this is an off year for Playstation imo. Probably Diablo4 will be the biggest AAA game of the year for me. Last year it was easily Ragnarok.

necroing this post,

granblue fantasy, plucky squire, eiyuuden chronicles ended up being delayed out of the year into 2024;
starfield and forza significantly underwhelmed, cities skylines came out broken, gloomhaven was supposedly not a great port either.

But we got Counterstrike 2 as a surprise, and the Cyberpunk 2077 DLC and 2.0 update completely redeemed the game. Remnant 2 did better than expected, Alan Wake 2 turned out to be a technical marvel.

2023 arguably a top 3 gaming year of all time
