Media/Expansion ambitions

• Gran Turismo movie looks horrible and will most likely bomb. Same for Twisted Metal on Peacock.
• All of their latest PC ports have bombed and gained them negative press.
• The most money making potential of all mobile has yet to be seen during his entire tenure, when he could've just acquired a mobile publisher like take two and Sega did. Shareholders should question him over that alone.

Hardware

• Project Q revealed way too early, does not have a release date and will also probably bomb as it is a streaming only device that is a dead weight without internet.
• PS VR has been abandoned and is barely 6 months old.

Business Strategy

• Came running back to MS to sign a deal they originally denied, giving them a WORSE deal than originally offered, before the acquisition has even gone through.
• Lost all Zenimax titles and in return wasted billions on bungie who are still developing games for the same platform that they always were, essentially no benefit to Playstation besides learning their techniques to extract more money from players through live service.

Marketing

• No Playstation studio games have been shown for 2024, and the rest of this year has been horrible first party wise besides Spiderman at the end of the year.
• The absolute worse showcase ever put on by Playstation, showcasing their new GAAS ambitions with CGI trailers and Day 1 on PC messaging.
• PS5 ads were everywhere when there stock picked back up, but lately I have not seen any Playstation related commercials or social media campaigns in months.

Pros
PS5 stock issues were solved and that let the intense demand be met. But if that's all he's good for he could just be the logistics executive.

You forgot to mention that the earth is flat, that Jim Ryan invaded Ukraine, that Jimbo eats kids and that tomorrow aliens are going to invade us tomorrow.

But well, these things would be too close to reality compared to the ones in the OP.

Why don't you guys merge and move all your 'Jimbo is evil and PS is doomed' shitposts into a dedicated thread? By doing that, the normal people would have a cleaner forum without all this spam.

I think the Bungie acquisition was a legitimately brilliant move. Not that it makes up for the "bad" ones but it shouldn't be lumped in with them either.

And although I hate purchased exclusivity I think he's been very smart about picking what titles to invest in. The Bethesda games really helped carry the system those first few months, China Hero turned out to be far more fruitful than anyone could have predicted, FF has been a good brand-definer (both remake and XV.)

And not trying to be Netflix might result in them being able to be default victors in 5 or 10 years.


Now the bad. PC ports a waste of time. Even if Nixxes is cheap and small their output isn't raising brand awareness for new PS releases, which was the whole point. VR is a break-even distraction at best.

They really, really, really should have purchased Crash Bandicoot. He's worth a lot under Sony/ND ownership but very little without them. There's a value mismatch here that both sides should have been aware of and worked a deal on years ago. Now he'll be locked up far from home in the Xbox vault with Banjo.

Dreams was mishandled, should have been ported to PC with more creator control instead of stuff like R&C. And Japan Studio should have been reworked i stead of closed. And just to head off Yurinka before he claims they were merely restructured, there is a Patapon clone coming out soon from the original team that should have just been Patapon 3. Thats what you lose when you dissolve the whole group instead of just firing the TLR guy.
