I can't read it (ad blocker issues) but isn't this just the same statement we've all read last week?

It's that plus a little more information on what type of project Larian is thinking about doing next (something smaller that won't take six years like BG3 or maybe multiple smaller projects). The original Bloomberg article had that info., but this article and the previous linked article are just summaries of it.

Only Microsoft would be tone deaf enough to try to acquire a studio that's actively struggling to put a game on their own platform.....

They don't care. All they care about is destroy this industry.
And from the rate thay are producing xbox series consoles, I am not sure they plan a new hardware. Hence, no issue if developers don't develop on xbox.

I can't imagine this company needing anyone, they were already a premier studio and after this Baldurs gate release, they are basically future-proof.

The only way they avoided a takeover is because the owner and his wife are the majority stakeholders. They care for their creation.

That is exactly why they want it.
To force them to limit their game to work on Series S and to not launch on others consoles.

We have zero news of MS or Sony being interested on acquiring Larian.

The most similar thing we have is an internal list from MS where they listed a ton of companies that maybe could be interesting for a potential acquisition.

And to acquire a company isn't like to buy lettuce in a growcery store, acquisitions are only made if agreed with their board and at least a majority of stakeholders. If instead they go for a public company and make a hostile takeover most of the key talent can leave the company keeping only a highly overpriced disfunctional empty shell.

If a company doesn't want to sell they don't sell, unless their finantials are in a critical level where the only way to save the company is to sell. And aparently this isn't the case.

This is another article spun out of the interview. No such thing as no for the right price either, all things considered. The headline is as stupid as the article itself which is clickbait quota in nature.
