I think I maybe got to the same point. After finding out the game is built to make grinding nigh impossible and combat being so slow and sloggy, I pulled the plug.
Yeah idk can't get into these old school, retro type games anymore unless it's a solid one or platformer.

Yeah idk can't get into these old school, retro type games anymore unless it's a solid one or platformer.
That is the problem, though. It wasn't truly retro-style in anything but the graphics.

The combat and other systems are more complicated than they need to be, and the inputs for the timed elements are too demanding in their window for those attacks to be effective, which sucked all the fun out of combat.
