Microsoft reduced investment in XCloud to "zero" last year. CMA is allowing an Acti-Ubisoft cloud divestment for essentially dead service.

xCloud is pretty much dead, and only being supported for current customers.

CMA once again played for a fool as they think that a Ubisoft-Acti cloud streaming divestment will actually hurt MS in any way. Should've just blocked the entire deal. It was always about foreclosing on Sony on subscription and console, same as Starfield

So why the hell do they constantly tout that play anywhere nonsense ?? Xbox and their shills constantly say "If you don't own an Xbox or PC, its fine, you can just play on the cloud!!!" , while they have no real intention of supporting cloud 🤦‍♂️ The most disingenuous clowns in the industry. Xbox makes EA look like saints.

I don't believe it. The rest of their company is leaning heavily into cloud compute.

This is a temporary pause at best.

Even if it is just temporary, it doesn't make it ok, especially when they charge $17 a month for the service. This explains why people were waiting upwards of 3 hours in xCloud queues just to play Starfield, not because there was a lot of demand, but because the infrastructure is awful
