Weird that he leaves one month before the game ships... That can't be normal.

Could he have been fired?

Man got his bag after the acquisition. There is no need to suffer a sea of middle managers and their BS anymore.

This is non organic growth for you

Everybody has taken the money and run and Microsoft are left holding what were already mostly incompetent devs

His instagram, a month or two ago (not kidding):

Seems a year and a half he went to Burning Man:

He sure likes to travel and knows how to party:

This guy won't miss Microsoft, he took the money and ran away to enjoy life. I'm happy for him xDD

Wow, too many holes for his pleasure

Another one that left after his contract is up 🤣

Microsoft will probably close the studio after Hellblade 2 comes out and flops.

Todd Howard next 😏

Expected.

Others studios happened the same.

But in scale of how much money their got in their pockets... nobody reaches Bobby Kotick.

4chan used to hate this guy. He claimed to always sneak himself into his games and when dMc was being pilloried they speculated that he purposely made Donte look like himself. Then, when that was blowing up he came out on stage one day for an event with his hair shaved off and they claimed it was specifically to make that rumor go away.

Ahh, good times.

This dude is a chad. Glad to see he got out of the festering cesspit that is XGS. Not buying Hellblade 2 though. 6 hours for $40 is too much

By itself this isn't news (people come and go, it's a part of every industry), but when combined with other high profile departures, it doesn't paint a confident picture.

343, Ninja Theory, Tango Gameworks...

What was the last success any Microsoft studio has had?

This guy leaving before Hellblade comes out, Mikami leaving shortly after releasing HiFi Rush...

The biggest thing you have to worry about with big names leaving is that they'll take people with them over time. And what you want to see is a natural evolution where the next people up have been groomed for success to takeover. That's something they do at Naughty Dog for example, and what they're doing at Santa Monica.
