These rules ban all emulated games, ROM hacks, modified games, fangames that use copyrighted material, and content found through data mining Nintendo games. It will be interesting to see if Nintendo actually enforces these rules. A lot of Youtubers play ROM hacks without Nintendo cracking down on them, especially Pokemon Youtubers. If they do try to enforce these rules, then this will screw over so many Youtubers.

I think the romhack is a good rule. If you want to play Super Mario World romhacks do it in your own time, don't show these people hacks and piracy which is harmful to Nintendo's image. No one's telling them not to play these games, they still can in their spare time. Just don't promote these unofficial licensed Nintendo games or show ads for these videos you knowingly well understand aren't official Nintendo games. Don't like it, get a part time job to fill the gap on the demonetized videos. You're a popular YouTuber with over 1M views anyways. You'll liv

I'm not sure this is enforceable.I also wonder if there are other legal reasons they "need" to put this kind of stuff out there (similar to things done for trademark protection). Just like everyone freaked out over Sony's online requirement for the PS5 slim drive, I'm sure there is more to this than just what is on the surface. People just don't seem to understand how many legal issues surround doing business.

I know it’ll impact the “hype” content creators who thrive off data mining and leaks. Similar to those who play rom hacks exclusively, but do so under the guise of being Nintendo fans, they’re actually taking advantage of a small but passionate base.

Nintendo content creators are rife with this problem in general because many see it as a less competitive niche and seek to exploit the fan base. They’re actually not fans at all so they shouldn’t be monetized by Nintendo.
