I just realized Nintendo turns 135 on September 23rd, 2024. Also The Gameboy turned 35 back in April in Japan so this is pretty cool. Also very rare Sunday announcement

Its moves like this, Mario Movie being a success, and opening Themes parks that put Nintendo into a mindshare that wont disappear for awhile.
And most importantly sell games and units.

They normally mess up after a successful generation but they are making their own path a bit easier. Can all be undone with a stupid move but we’ll see how they do

To be pedantic, they're not opening theme parks. Nintendo World is an area inside Universal Studios in Japan and California.

I know its a partnership with Universal and will be in Orland lol. Result is the same

The only reason the result isn't the same is because the area is a whole lot smaller than what you'd find on a regular theme park.

Don't get me wrong it's still awesome and I'll probably be visiting the one in Osaka next year (assuming I find a way to get the tickets because I heard it's quite brutal to get one), but it's not a full fledged theme park as that would imply a different level of investment from Nintendo.

I know, Ive been to the one in Osaka, I know it’s just a section of a theme park. Mindshare result is the same tbh.

People in general dont care about the details whether it’s a partnership or a theme park in a theme park.

They are going to Super Nintendo world or whatever its called, the kids will love it and create life long fans. Casual people who go, start thinking of Nintendo as an even more solid brand in popular culture. The effect is strong.

Ill be going to the Orlando one next year because Ill b in US end of the year. Osaka one is nice to see. Too busy atm, maybe it will be quieter in December so might go again

They know their brand, know what their base wants, and know how to expand their fanbase without compromising the core of their brand.

Other companies could learn a few lessons from them, tbh.
