But also knowing Microsoft, they planned in no way to offer any actual creative or technical development/optimization support and expected Aspyr to do all of that, since they don't own Aspyr through an acquisition.

Microsoft should have taken on the remake and asked obsidian and a few other teams to build it from the ground up. Iirc the original KOTOR teams exist inside Microsofts umbrella
