Original Resident Evil Director Not Interested In Returning

A new live talk has revealed that the original Resident Evil director Shinji Mikami doesn't plan to revisit the series.

Shinji Mikami, the director of the original Resident Evil, is reportedly uninterested in coming back to the franchise.

Mikami made the statement during a live talk that also involved Hideki Kamiya.

Kamiya is likely best known for directing the original Resident Evil 2.

Mikami wasn't interested in Resident Evil during the development process of the original PS1 version.

He only took an interest once it was released and acclaimed while selling millions, and the games he took an interest in were shit, like REmake and 4.

RE needs Kamiya like a caterpillar needs a chainsaw.

The franchise is currently in the best hands it has ever been, in the best shape is has ever been. It does not need him.

We do need his talents elsewhere, say rebooting Mega-man as a TPS using Vanquish as the model (his work and that of his colleagues). The right man is on the market, Capcom just needs to make the call, and haul the leads of Vanquish along as well - at least the key ones if possible - gameplay design, combat design etc.
