Sorry, haters: Overwatch 2 is far from a dead game. “The Overwatch community is on track to reach 100 million players next season,” game director Aaron Keller said in today’s Developer Update. I believe the last official player count we had was Overwatch 2 hitting 35 million players in its first month.
Season 10 is set to start on April 16 and will likely last for 9 weeks. So by the end of June, Overwatch 2 should hit that new benchmark.
Many players have multiple accounts. It’s also interesting that Keller referred to “the Overwatch community” and not Overwatch 2, so this could be a lifetime number of players for the franchise. As such it might not be accurate to say there are 100 million people playing Overwatch 2, but that’s still an impressive number on paper
