Months after one of the worst launches of 2023, Payday 3 developer Starbreeze has doubled down on plans to salvage the co-op FPS and turn it into "the heisting experience you expect from a Payday sequel."

In a lengthy Twitter thread posted today, Starbreeze says

We want to take some time today to explain what we’re planning for PAYDAY 3 going forward. We’re well aware that many of you aren’t satisfied with the game the way it is in its current state.

Starbreeze affirms that it's been collecting feedback since launch, and to more readily act on it, has now "put together a strike team of veteran developers from the design, community, communication, and production teams with the focus on bringing Payday 3 up to where it will meet your expectations. This team is currently creating a plan, deciding what will shape the game into the heisting experience you expect from a Payday sequel in both the short and long-term."

The studio adds that February will see the release of a plan "detailing the upcoming improvements and when you can expect to see them in the game." When we'll get these improvements and what exactly they are, among the sea of Payday 3 feedback, remains to be seen.

24 hour Peak concurrent users on Steam:

PayDay 2: 34,320
PayDay 3: 713

Game is cooked, this is what happens when you release a broken game.

Payday 2 will always be better

Lots of studios are in a similar situation than StarBreeze, where they've supported a singular game for such a long time that the proposition of making a sequel that would satisfy the playerbase seems near impossible.
This is even worse in PayDay 3's case because it's clear this game was not fit for release.

Has nothing to do with gamepass.
Of course not, it's only a coincidence that a load of games going gamepass day 1 seem to not have any care put on them, even when compared with existing prequels (when they existed).

A coincidence, I tell you, nothing to do with developers not giving two fucks since they already got theirs.

It ain’t like Starbreeze has a sterling reputation as it is after what happened to the console versions of Payday 2

Plenty of day 1 game gamepass games are good. Gamepass has nothing to do with a game being good or bad. That is up to the development studio.

You do understand that the argument in sentence one does not prove the argument in sentence two, right?

Has everything to do with GamePass, its the reason Redfall, Starfield, Forza, Payday 3, and more all released in broken incomplete state.

Bingo
Starfield didn't release in a broken incomplete state. Redfall just sucked. So you named two games out of the 10s of day 1 game pass? So you're wrong again....

Gamepass has no bearing if a game is good or not. Your logic is extremely flawed. Please pay attention.

Starbreeze have been struggling hard in recent years.
Their last developed game before PayDay 3 was 2018's Overkill's The Walking Dead which also was critically panned and a sales flop. Their publishing initiative from 2014 to 2017 was a failure with only Dead by Daylight being a success(they sold the publishing rights for that when they exited the publishing business).

Their stock price is pretty much at an all time low in the last few months, things looking really dire for them.

Edit: Typo

Starfield is beyond incomplete lol, it's a full priced early access game. It's so bad that even PATCHES are being delayed 🤣🤣🤣 I've only ever seen that with early access games...And Redfall sucked and was incomplete, took 6 months to get a 60fps patch

Starfield was not broken nor incomplete. Game had hundreds of hours of content. Hardly any reviewer cited the game as incomplete. You like to just make up shit and not actually follow logic. UPDATES getting delayed means nothing. Happens to every game ever. Game pass day 1 has no barring if the game is incomplete or not. Take off your console warrior goggles. My boy named two games that are incomplete out of the hundreds of day 1 game pass launches. Lol. Tighten up.
