According to the publication, Spencer said he was interested in deals that may add “geographic diversity” such as studios in Asia.

Very surprising since matt booty wad signaling more layoffs to come.

Yes, both Sony and MS said that they were going to pause the acquisitions for a while but that planned to continue somewhere in the future.

I assume they both wanted to take some time to properly integrate the companies they bought in the recent years, to complete the payments, to restructure removing redundancies and also to wait some time to start getting some revenue from these new teams.

And then once all this is done, maybe next year or so, to continue making some acquisition more.

Scary that he always mentions Asia. Stay away from the following and we're mostly good MS

Sega (including ALTUS)
Square enix
Capcom
Falcom
Konami
Bandai Namco
Koei Tecmo

Would be devastated to see any of them fall to Microsoft of all companies.

He isn't looking the greatest in the pics I just saw...hope he is alright.

Should've left, but he got all those trophies and awards. And his salary is insane. But he is very talented in changing losses into wins. And people still blame everyone else but him, it's Sarah, it's Nadella, it's Don, the industry and offcourse that damned playstation.

Remember when xbox fans got angry because wukong would skip xbox and they demanded answers from playstation.

Honestly SE isnt in the greatest position atm so this actually is concerning. Sony really shouldve thought long term and at least invested into some Japanese publishers but setting 4.4 billion dollars on fire with bungie and concord really sets them back budget wise. Oh well.

Keep them away from Nippon Ichi Software, Grasshopper Manufacture, and Compile Heart as well

Just like cod, their actual revenue will come from PlayStation Consoles. Halo, Gears are coming. Console war is over buddy.

That's a clickbait article. He doesn't mention acquisitions. Deals, in this context, mean partnerships.

Good luck either way. Not happening.

Ah clickbait because he said partnerships, instead of acquisitions, wonder why(ftc, cma)?

Later he defined partnerships such as the abk deal.

However, he also noted that no deals were “imminent”, and any that may be agreed are unlikely to be of the scale of last year’s Activision Blizzard acquisition, given that Microsoft is still spending time absorbing those employees.

Spencer also identified China as a potential source of acquisitions, with Bloomberg noting that Age of Empires Mobile, released last month, was a collaboration with Tencent.

Nope. Don't care if every game goes to Sony/Nintendo platforms day one. I'm a subscription guy so to get more games on Game Pass Ultimate day one benefits me. Me paying $70 for every game I want doesn't, especially when I rarely if ever replay games. The only game this generation that I have replayed (multiple times) is Outriders and that's out of 50+ completed games. I'm the Xbox guy here and don't care about any of this other bullshit. All I care about is what benefits me. It's that simple. :)

Either he's ill, or he really is on Ozempic. Looks terrible.

More mismanagement and layoffs incoming it seems. Anyone subscribing go GamePass should ready themselves for more price increases.

So creative talent should get taken away for mass corporate profits because it somehow benefits you? You realize in the long term, buyouts signal the end of a creative synergy. In the end, you get nothing but brands that are shells of themselves.

Yes, while some people say Sony shouldnt buy a publisher because look at MS (shouldn't even bean argument because Sony has been successful with the video game venture while MS hasn't). In the meantime MS and Tencent slowly buying IPs and publishers, studios.

Sony cannot do a Nintendo and just rely on themselves, its like asking Nintendo to only rely on new ips and not use Mario, Zelda, Pokemon etc
