I can imagine a lot of panicked breathing when TLoU Remake had PC mention but a sigh of relief after they saw that it said "coming soon".

If they are announcing PC version simultaneously with the console version for a marquee $70 retail game in 2022, anyone who thinks they're not gonna release simultaneously in the next 2~ years is just deluding themselves.
Yes the TLOU is just another new step. With Horizon 1 it was like "don't worry, making this game on PC doesn't mean all PS games will go to PC, we just though that Horizon is great fit". Few weeks later, BOOM Dayz Gone, then BOOM God Of War, then BOOM Spiderman, then with TLOU they literally announced the PC version simultaneously as the PS5 version, next step? Can't be more obvious except for those still in denial.

In this case gotta say i prefer MS way of doing things, while i don't like the PC porting thing cause it will devalue your console imo, but at least MS was clear and honest about it, unlike those 2 bitches of Hermen and Jim.

I love that we can agree on most of things. Regardless, transparency is key to customers and stock holders. Day one is inevitable. We just don't know when. It wasn't yesterday, might not be today, but tomorrow... Who knows. But I'm sure most people want to KNOW, at least. No point in leaving people in the dark, when these decisions are made so long in advance.

Yeah, i think by the end of this gen they will already be announcing day by date games on PS5/PC, and nobody would bat an eye and will be shock just like it's the case for Xbox game studios now. They will started slowly step by step as they already doing, it's gonna be PC port 18 months after PS release, then 12 months, then 6 months, until it's gonna be day by date,

And I honestly don't think that is bad for their brand. PC players aren't sided with easily when it comes to locking us out, and we really don't compete in the same space that consoles do. I just hope that the extra money coming in, continues to further gaming as a whole. Wish some of the warriors here realized this is my stance on gaming.

Not necessarily, the brands seem big enough to have 2 bites of the cherry. 2 cycles of hype may be more profitable.

Also these are ports by the dedicated porting studios. You don’t start porting a project that is still evolving as that leads to unneeded rework when things are in flux.

I suspect there will always be a window of exclusivity to the consoles. How big is another matter.

But advertising costs are null and the potential sales seem to be neglected because of this. Why make the best version of your game for second class citizens? The timeline would have to decrease to make cents

Totally onboard with this statement, selling PS5 and Subs are their primary goals while PC is the extra step to make as much as they can from their franchise.

Though I think simultaneous release would not be detrimental to console sales, building the initial hype and excitement around your main box and audience is probably the best course of action.

I can see them reducing the gap once they’ve released every old games they want to port.

Who cares? PS games will sell more than Xbox games regardless. They’ll outsell Xbox games on console and pc simply because they’re higher quality. Sony wins either way.

You should read this and other similar PC related topics, clearly some users on this forum care

Ports are ports and can be refined or improved only if there is more time allocated. It previously become apparent, maybe even officially stated; the creative studios focus on console development and are not burdened with multiplatform considerations. It’s left to the dedicated porting studio to take charge henceforth. Logically there will never be a simultaneous release.

Bro you still believing those assholes of Hermen and Jimbo? How many times they have to lie to you so you open your eyes?
I believe them because they deliver what they say and never lied. Please show a link with receipts of themselves lying.

None of the Sony games announced for 2022, including this remake, will have a simultanous release on PC. In fact none of the Sony games released this fiscal year and the ones to be released in the fiscal year that ends in 2026 will have simultanous release according to Sony, who also stated multiple times that they don't plan to release games at launch on PC. You thinking they are lying are the delusional one.

TLOU will be a 10 years old when released on PC, with a remaster and a remake previously published on console. It already sold 20 million copies and they included it on their game subs. When released on PC, any PS user remotely interested on it will have played it. PS players won't care if it gets released on PC.

The only mentions I can find are from former boss Shawn Layden, who does not make decisions anymore.

Also, you are taking pixel counting a graph as factual evidence.

I don't need to say anymore as to how absurd that is.
If you didn't find any mention from Hermen or Ryan is because you didn't spend more than a couple of minutes googling it.

No pixelcounting is required to see the evidence that in their graphs there is a PS4+PS5 group of games but not PS5+PC or PS4+PS5+PC groups:

ps-graph.jpg

Absurd is to see people like you rejecting the reality and facts, graphs and quotes with a totally baseless opinion with absolutely nothing backing it. A flatearther of gaming.

Should I link the GAF thread where you did that and got dunked on before the mods mercifully closed it ?
Bullshit, nobody debunked me. And the thread was closed because the mod considered there was another thread about a similar topic so prefered to have it there. I'd say it would have been a better mod decision to merge the thread instead. Maybe it was a newbie mod who doesn't know how to do things properly.

P.S.: I assume you mean a thread about these graphs and the pixelcounting.

Well once the heavy lifting of adapting your graphics engine to support the PC has been complete, porting it will no longer be a thing. It's more of making the game concurrent with the other SKUs - similar to 3rd party studios today.

That's not how things should be looked at. TLOU Remake is going to be "new" for the PS5 and therefore that's when you need to start the clock. You act like they knew 10 years ago that they was going to make the game for the PC and that's not the case.

I wish you are right, everything day by date is the worse thing the would do imo, but that's not how i'm seeing it, the more time go on the more Sony seems to support more PC. But we will see.

Decima is on pc, where’s Forbidden West? The engine obviously evolved and it’s not as simple as sticking assets into what Horizon 1 was doing.

In the here and now Sony studios I presume are busy retooling many things for PS5. Need to be at the forefront of tech as first party, not to mention competing with 3rd party with the likes of UE5.

There’s always going to be some porting lag.

Of course not, but I don't think they are quite there yet with a concurrent release. If Nixxes is doing the port, then they have their hands full with other games.

Agree with this. I'm talking more about when the pipelines are actually complete (PC/PS5). We'll know if they are just putting something on the shelf and waiting for sales to diminish on the PS side or if they will release concurrently.

I’m thinking the pipeline is never complete when studios own their engines. Each game, if it takes 3 years on avg - they are messing with that engine in tandem together with the title being developed. That’s one of the advantages of having complete control over the tech, unfattered ability to respond to needs of the project.

Pipelines will always be worked on - true. But I mean "complete" in the sense that making it fully functional for the PC and the PS is something that would have a finish. I believe that these Sony companies will basically have things in situated like 3rd party developers. I can absolutely see development running concurrently.

Well go on, share some places where Herman or Ryan have said there will not be any day and date PC releases in the future.

Lumping console SKUs together because they also won't be reporting PS4 info separately anymore doesn't mean what you think it means lol.

The mod didn't close the thread with a "duplicate" or "already discussing elsewhere" message, it's a gif mocking the absurdity of the topic lol.
