Emulator tech is progressing, even Bloodborne is almost playable via emulator now.
What does this mean for PlayStation?
It hurts their IP ownership, it eats into their possible consumer base and reasons to own their hardware and games and it limits the success of any re-releases or remakes.
The main ways I could see for them to deal with this is either litigation in cases where that can be used or to simply buy the emulator and remove it from free distribution... Possibly using it to enrich the playstation ecosystem by providing emulated BC on PS6 etc.
Nintendo understands how important it is to protect your IPs and software, it's time for PlayStation to move on this too.
