Bliss Brain has delayed the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 versions of Princess Maker 2 Regeneration from its previously planned July 11 release date to August 8 due to content changes required to “comply with ethical standards.” The Switch and PC (Steam) versions will still launch on July 11. And, like the Switch version, the PlayStation 5 version will still launch with a physical edition in Japan.

Here is an overview of the changes being made to the PlayStation versions:

The PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of Princess Maker 2 Regeneration will undergo some specification changes in order to comply with ethical standards. These changes include:
  • The removal of items that increase the daughter’s bust size
  • The removal of the endings “Marriage with Father” and “Marriage with Butler.”
Due to these changes, the release date for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of the game has been moved to August 8, 2024. Bliss Brain apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.
(The Switch and PC versions will not undergo any specification changes and the release date will remain unchanged.)

The removal of the endings “Marriage with Father”

This one is fine, no need to cater to weirdo perverted fetishes but the others are just Sony being SOYny

No doubt Nintendo fanboys will try to capitalize on this.
Been seeing them taking jabs at PS over this (and other games), and yet when PS did allow this stuff, everyone was out with pitchforks.
Another lose-lose situation.

I really wish Sony didn't consistently try to censor niche Japanese games. I'm still incredibly upset with them for preventing Omega Labyrinth Z from ever getting an English release in the West. These cuts are lame, especially for such a classic game, but at least they're not changed on other platforms. Sucks for Playstation owners though, I really hope Sony changes its tune at some point.

Not just Nintendo fanboys; just generally any person who's tired of seeing pointless censorship in gaming. Myself included.

This is dumb on SIE's part and it just makes buying the game on Switch or Steam that much more appealing vs. PS4 or PS5. Why can't some of these companies understand that the vast majority of gamers understand this stuff is FICTION, and aren't dumb enough to go out IRL expecting this type of thing or interact with real people like they would in a video game with a fictional setting?

SIE deserves all the jabs for censoring this type of stuff, and they should just ignore the idiots who were complaining. The complainers don't even play games, let alone buy them.

Tsukihime was also censored, this tells me that they are heavily abiding to DEI consultants, somethign that Nintendo isn't doing funnily enough

oh we could make a long list of games that have been censored on Sony platforms in recent years, (Mary Skelter 2, Omega Labyrinth Life, Senran Kagura Burst ReNewal, Date A Live Reo Reincarnation, etc). This has been a repeating trend.

"daughter’s bust size"?
“Marriage with Father”?

I'm fine with Sony censoring degenerate and grotesque stuff, why would they damage their own brand by associating themselves with stuff like this? That is just self preservation, the same reason why they don't allow porn games like Steam does. Video games already have a bad enough reputation.

Ok, a couple things to note here.
Princess Maker is a game where the protagonist is a retired hero from a Middle Earth setting who takes in a war orphan girl and raises her from 10 to 18 years-old.
It's a (very) open-ended game where the end result of the player's actions (how the girl is raised) can be anything from becoming a prostitute to becoming a princess.
IIRC, in the original 30 year-old game after the age of 14 the girl can even be sent to a brothel to make a living (I'm not sure of this, though.. I was like 12 years old when played this on DOS). Though at that time, the age of consent in Japan was like 13 or 14 years-old.

With that said, "items that increase the daughter's bust size" would nowadays mean "items that increase the boob size of a minor". "Marriage with a Father" and "Marriage with Butler" would suggest that grooming was involved.

I too hate changing stuff like this because if anything works of art like games are photographs of the world they were released in, and I would be completely against e.g. Valve retroactively forcing these changes on the game that's been on Steam for years.
However, in the context of a "remaster" like this game I understand why they'd change these things.

But the changes are only on one platform. If the intent behind the remaster was to remove them, it would've been removed from all platforms.

That only means Sony passed the game's code candidate through QA, whereas Valve and Nintendo probably did not.
It wasn't the dev who intended to change the game.
