Red Dead Franchise Passes 90 Million Sales

Red Dead Redemption 2 sold an extra three million copies in the last 3 months. This means Red Dead Redemption 2 has now sold over 65 million copies worldwide, up from 64 million in May. In total, the Red Dead Series has now sold over 91 million copies, up from 89m last time. Take-Two say they are pleased with Red Dead 2’s performance last quarter.

Sales of Take-Two franchises (additional sales since May):

  • GTA: 430 million (+5 million)
  • Red Dead Redemption: 91 million (+3 million)
  • NBA 2K: 150 million
  • Borderlands: 87 million (+1 million)
  • BioShock: 43 million
  • Sid Meier's Civilization: 73 million (+2 million)

This is why subscription services are dumb...and why publishers should stop putting their stuff in a service after 1-2 years. It's evergreen revenue that can fund future projects and doesn't devalue your IP.
