According to two sources familiar with the plans who asked not to be named because they were not authorized to discuss them, a remake of the 2013 cross-gen PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 game is still in its earliest stages and will not be complete for at least a few years. A team at Ubisoft Singapore, one of the studios that has led development on the Assassin’s Creed franchise’s evolving ocean tech, will be heavily involved in helping to modernize the Caribbean-based sailing game.

There's a also some tidbits about Skull and Bones:
According to an internal email shared with Kotaku, Singapore studio management is currently forcing all developers on the game to work from the office rather than remotely. It’s also providing onsite breakfast and dinner as a way of “thanking you for your unwavering commitment to our shared vision,” though it will also seemingly encourage staff to stay later and work more hours to ship the closed beta on time for a game that was due out years ago.

I'm sure Ubisoft hates the day it got into agreement with the Singapore government for developing and releasing Skull and Bones.

7th gen remakes are by far the laziest trend of this generation. I remember playing black flag on a friends PS3 thinking it still looked pretty decent vs the maxed out PC version.
Just a resolution and framerates boost with better texture filtering does wonders for a 7th gen game.

At some point developers will start developing new stuff, right?

Also, lol. Create a franchise, garner a huge fanbase, slowly kill the franchise over the years and now try and get some of that old glory back with a remake.

WAAAAYYYY too many remakes of already well-known games in the works these days. Feels like oversaturation of specific IP.

Where are the remakes for Xenogears, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Tomba, Dragon Force etc.? Games that actually deserve remakes to expose them to a bigger audience and rectify certain limitations in some cases (Xenogears' second half had a ton of content cut out due to time/budget constraints, for example)?

Instead we'll probably get a remake announcement for Just Dance 2013, or Witcher 3. You know, totally obscure and super-unique games in the whole market /s.

Lol it isn't even that old. It was a good game but a remake really?

They really need to offer something more the just visual and performance upgrades. Like combat would need a bit of an overhaul, cause the old ac combat is dreadfull.
