Report: Microsoft now blocking VPN for Xbox purchases/code redemptions in other regions

"In the last few hours, it has been reported that Xbox has blocked the possibility of making purchases from other regions using VPN. If you try to bypass this new restriction with any tricks, they warn that they will penalize your account and remove what you’ve purchased.

However, there hasn’t been an official announcement yet, so we’ll have to wait. But if this is indeed the case, they won’t allow the use of VPNs when redeeming codes."

The point is just to add an indirection to the network route, which for most web services is enough, but you can detect if an IP is from a VPN server.

Internet anonymity is a myth lol, if a big corp or a government wants to figure it out they will. Also there's all ways of figuring out if it's legit or not... Like if you're always logging into your Xbox from the US until it's time to buy something they're gonna be able to tell lol

No, people know that you use it. Your isp knows you are not in Brazil and so does everyone else. You are just hiding your ip behind a Brazilian ip.

And on Xbox you don't need a VPN if you use the code for the region you chose. What I like about Xbox and Nintendo is that you can change the region on your existing account, while on PlayStation you have to create a new account with a different region. Following the example of Xbox and Nintendo, Sony should allow changing the region on an existing account.
