how expensive do you want this console to be
its not gonna be able to have the highest end gpu ever, its a console. The $700 price point is already super expensive for a console. Ain't no way sony could put anything better in it GPU wise.
like yeah maybe this gpu by itself is cheaper but you gotta buy other parts too to put the pc together and if you don't wanna be bottlenecked by the cpu you aren't going to pick an ultra cheap cpu either

half the price without the motherboard, nvme/storage, psu, case, ram, input. can we stop comparing consoles to pc in monetary value? the answer is always "it depends" you buy what you want.

Yeah, they used a game that wasn't optimized for the PS5 Pro and the engine had an issue adjusting to the extra power. The same limitations not implemented on a PC build. Good job grifting.

Pretending like Elden Ring is a true benchmark title is hilarious.

I don't think anyone is more disappointed with Boost Mode only drawing out 30-35% more in performance on unpatched games than I am, but this isn't how benchmarking works.

Yah, the comparison here is weird, because it'd be like saying:

"This four year old engine has more horse power than that car, and it's half the price."

Sure, the engine on its own costs less, but you can't drive it off the lot. As any PC gaming enthusiast knows, you can have a bad gaming experience if you only buy the GPU, and cheap out on every other functional part.

The PS5 Pro uses the same Zen 2 CPU from the PS5. ANy high tier RTX 30XX and 40XX is going to outperform it, but not at the same price point.

PS5 Pro is a better deal if you donmt want the hassle of PC building

A full rig with the RX6800 will be close to the PS5 Pro, with a better CPU and much more RAM. The RX6800 is predictably faster at rasterization than the PS5 Pro's GPU as well.

On the other hand, the PS5 Pro will have better raytracing performance, PSSR allows for better upscaling (meaning lower base resolution and performance for similar IQ) and of course there's much lesser hassle in not having to build and setup the whole thing.

I believe things are going to change drastically in Q1 2025, though.
At that point AMD will be launching cutdown Navi 48 variants for 400€ that have even higher raster performance than the RX6800, AI-driven FSR4, the same RT performance upgrades as the PS5 Pro and much higher bandwidth. Intel is also going to launch Battlemage cards within that price range

Come February 2025, all things point to the PC market being able to provide ~800€ builds that offer much better performance than the PS5 Pro with identical featureset, without having to pay monthly subscriptions for online gaming, much cheaper videogame prices and obviously all the flexibility with user generated mods.

At that point the non-subsidized PS5 Pro might become somewhat of a meme, unless Sony brings down its price accordingly. The only thing holding that console will be Sony's 1st party exclusive games, whose exclusivity window before getting a PC port seems to be shortening for every new release.
