This would be sad. We already have Nintendo, competing with them in the handheld space is business suicide imo. Ps needs to remain a home console first and foremost
PS isn’t winning in the console market either way. Nintendo is the console market leader & even thoe Steamdeck doesn’t sell a fraction is already seeing steady growth.

I could see a future where Valve makes singleplayer games using there franchise & making those exclusive to Steamdeck to bolster it while the money maker gets milked on the PC steam storefront. I mean when you have deadlock already exclusive to steam & other valve/steam first party exclusive to Steam like CSGO, TF2 & now Xbox day n date & PS including PS multiplayer day n date there’s no reason why Valve wouldn’t push hard w singleplayer games exclusively to Steamdeck just to see how far they can push Steamdeck hardware if it had goty quality singleplayer games which knowing the industry & pc players would easily eat up.

It's not about winning anything, it's about knowing your place in the market. Nintendo for third parties isn't leading anything, they are a decade behind as people aren't buying major sellers like CoD, Madden, and 2k on Nintendo platforms, even Xbox does better on this front. Reducing the power levels would do nothing but make PS an less attractive competitor and give Nintendo an upper hand in third party relations.

At most they have a handheld on the side that's compatible with PS5 games and then PS6 games at lower settings. You have high hopes for Steam Deck, but in reality an Xbox handheld is going to be more relevant. Decks are niche and will remain so.

Is that suppose to be a joke?

Maybe if you use Steam Deck worldwide steady growth to compare with UK console sales... I don't know... maybe?
Bro is yapping fr. He's basically envisioning a future where the only two relevant platforms are Steam and Nintendo and everyone who isn't them is irrelevant. Very close minded way of viewing the industry, let alone in a Sony FY thread. His solution is "become Nintendo or get left" despite them making more revenue and profit than ever before, and that's just keeping business as is.

Shows 0 logic and critical thinking skills.

Would it be enough for you to leave the PS ecosystem?
The only thing that would make me leave PS ecosystem is if my favorite publishers (SIE, Capcom, Sega, Square Enix) for some reason stopped making games on the platform day 1. Exclusives, power etc dosn't honestly matter to me, but only access to the stuff I always show up Day 1 for.

I'm not sure there's any real merit for Valve to make exclusive titles to the Steamdeck. Most of the games they release these days are GAAS, which only benefit from multi-platform network effects.

Valve is still living in the promises to release Half Life 3 for two decades.
And people come to talk about Valve releasing single player games exclusive to Steam Deck???

That can't be real :D :D :D

I can't remember the last single player game Valve released. Maybe Half-Life Alyx? Oh, actually, as I'm typing this, I see it's Apeture Desk Job, but that's F2P.

In any case, they seem to be doing perfectly fine with multi-player games and Steam revenue. I doubt they're motivated to do more single player titles anytime soon.

If you told me back in 2006 that PlayStation fans would be unironically using revenues & profits as a way to boast about the brand, I'd of laughed my ass off.

Yet here we are. LITERALLY people cheerleading for revenues & profits, as if that's all that matters to a gamer or hobbyist in the scene.

Gaming has regressed 🤣
We are in a thread of Sony's fiscal report, so obviously people is going to talk here about metrics that measure its performance as it is the case of revenue, profit, console sales, active userbase etc.

In this case, the numbers say that Sony had this quarter way more SIE revenue and profit, active userbase, software revenue, game subs revenue, etc. than Nintendo or MS.

Do you think you'd still want to buy it?

Nope. I’d be wasting money on useless handheld functions and gimped performance. As well as having industry standards lag behind.

Newsflash. It’s not happening. Nintendo quit the home console race to consolidate all their dev efforts to one standard … portable gaming. Sony is market leader… because handhelds are not home consoles. End of story. Yea, you’ll see these games eventually on a Nintendo handheld… ten years later.

Anything else is revisionist history, damage control, and deranged fanboy cringe garbage.
