That's enough to get GTA6 exclusive and go nuclear

Won't affect me. lol

Oh yeah that Rythian guy hasn't got a clue...

I think it's highly doubtful they buy a publisher even if the ABK deal goes through, however it's possible.

In terms of Debt, it is very low.... 10.7 billion. That is long term debt....

As opposed to overall liabilities, which are obviously much higher as Sony is an electronics company and has a lot of components that they buy from other manufacturers to make TV's, Cameras etc..... so, like Samsung, they have relatively high Liabilities.....they balance out though, like everything in accounting.

I don't believe that Sony will acquire any publisher whatsoever. I believe that it's just wishful thinking since Microsoft acquired Bethesda by most people. Sony wise, I just don't see them spending the money for the acquisition or for paying everyone post close. With that said, if they do, I hope it's Square Enix just so I can stop seeing Xbox fans ask "when is (insert SE title here) coming to Xbox".

Jim Ryan "50 more pc port studios please"

He wasted too much time and money on port studios for some games to just sell a few thousand copies and then even the better sellers are being pirated for the majority.

This is not the first time Sony's PC endeavors fail. Let this management class trip over the same rock over and over again until they learn.

Last fiscal year they did around $80M with PC, this year they'll make around $300M. Most of them being profit. This is not a fail at all.

And as I remember they only bought one PC porting studio.

PC is a MSFT platform... that is a fail in and of itself. 95% of PC gaming is done on windows, that is a fact.

All resources should be spent to maximize PlayStation portfolio, exclusivity, uniqueness and player engagement..... it currently is not and it is very unfocused.

Putting maximum force focused into the smallest point cuts the deepest..... if you spread the force over a wide surface, all you feel is a slap and there is zero penetration. Apple understood this concept..... and Apple and Nintendo understand the importance of a closed platform with software unique to it.

That is why Mario and Zelda are where they are and Tomb Raider is being sold for pennies to 3rd rate companies.

300 millions is nothing for all these ports, even huge sellers like Spider-Man. They make more money with a COD season pass.

TLOU might sell more but everything else flopped, including Miles Morales. It was a failed experiment.

300+ mill is what they are projecting in revenue in total for those ports so we don't know if they are even close to hitting that or which ports did do well.

Bullshit, 300M is what they estimated almost a year ago and pretty likely what they will achieve. It isn't "nothing", it's lot of profit from porting a few old games.

They can fund the development of one of their big ass AAA games with these profits. Or even two. Some big ass corporations have Billions of loses and these folks made $300M of revenue (and mostly profit, because ports are very cheap compared to making a brand new game) with a few ports of old games.

The last time we discussed about the performance of their PC games -maybe a month ago- we made some numbers and estimations and they were on track to achieve 300M or something close this FY adding a few extra sales of the currently released ports plus Returnal and TLOU releases.

Obviously we won't know the real numbers until Sony doesn't mention them (if they mention them updating this slide in the report of this FY).

PC is a MSFT platform...
Windows, not PC. And who cares, MS doesn't get a cent from Sony games sold in PC.

All resources should be spent to maximize PlayStation portfolio, exclusivity, uniqueness and player engagement..... it currently is not and it is very unfocused.
The almost $300M in profits that pretty will generate these few ports in a single year will very likely fund a big AAA game or two for the PS portfolio. Games that without this money wouldn't exist, would have been developed with less budget or would have been developed several years later.

Apple never made a single game and doesn't have a single important excllusive game. In fact, their game console was one of the biggest fails in gaming history.

And Nintendo being that closed only taking care of themselves resulted on 3rd parties leaving them and Sony becoming the market leader. Also, Nintendo makes mostly AA -at best- games that don't have the giant budget needs that the high end AAA Sony games have. And this type of games become way more expensive every new generation. Sony needs more resources to back these games, the 3rd party exclusives and acquisitions.

Sony must grow and reach other markets like MP GaaS, PC, mobile and eSports plus movies+tv shows on top of what they already had to continue on top of the food chain making top tier AAA games.

If they get stuck with aprox. the same amount of users, with games selling more or less the same, with prices of consoles and games being cheaper now than they were all the previous generations, while game budgets skyrocket they would crash if don't find extra users/fans/revenue sources.

And this is now, probably in a generation or two unless VR or cloud gaming go really big and they continue being leaders they may even need to port old games to rival consoles too to get more revenue sources, and if they see that it doesn't affect their console sales/game sales for PS, to release them day one on PC (on their own PC store).

Foregoing the splashy big publishers, for the scary amount of like sub contract work they do on other people's games like smash or street fighter or sonic, shouldnt Sony increase whatever investment or ownership stake they have in the likes of Arc System Works, Dimps or Sumo?

If people are potentially hiring Sony's motion capture studio, or pinching this game engine, or having that established Sony worker around to help with this or that, can't Sony become like a skunkworks games industry to itself? A rising tide lifts all boats?

Another top-grade clownshoe post!

Apple has financed and provided developer support on dozens of games for Apple Arcade, including Horizon Chase 2 and Fantasian by Hironobu Sakaguchi.

Also, the Pippin was a Bandai product more than an Apple one, and Apple profited off it, even though it was a sales flop, and so few people even know it ever existed that it’s irrelevant anyway.

Your assertion that Apple have never made a game is not just false, but totally irrelevant. A platform maker doesn’t need to make games to have a viable platform.

Considering the integration of the App Store and Arcade, and the native support for Xbox and PS controllers, the Apple TV is a console, and a better one than the Switch in many ways, such as native 4K video.

But keep being wrong, you provide the rest of us with laughs!

Couldnt they re-align Xdev/PS Studios (that still confuses me) and have PS Studios mean owed studios, and PS Publishing be for collaborations?
