- putting tentpole games on PC (will dilute console overtime)
- investing in cloud (will dilute console overtime and it's not the future)
- expanding beyond the console (will weaken the console, make it undesirable)
- investing in subscriptions (it's not the future and will cannibalize game sales, games like GOW Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West should never be on sub-services, just like Rockstar rarely puts their tentpole games on subscriptions)
they fell for the trap MS set for PC releases, they'll fall for the trap MS is setting for subscription services on multiple devices (FireStick, Smart TV, Phones etc), when the only thing they need to do to continue to be profitable and at the top is to invest in the traditional model of consoles, exclusives, a handheld to sell even more digital games (buy a copy on PS5, play on PS5 and on a handheld)
all Sony needed to do after the successful PS4 generation and 118M consoles sold was capitalize on the 100M+ audience that they conquered, making more money from their core users, not try to get users outside of their core product like they're currently doing, that's where $10 game updates, $80/$120/$160 subscriptions and $70 games come in.
even specialists know, subscriptions for gaming are not the future, and neither is cloud, because to pay for the datacenters you need recurrent subscribers to PS Plus Premium for example and this model is not growing, even on all devices, the only thing Sony will do is cannibalize and dillute their console audience, period and if you refuse to see that, you're stupid and blind.
if even trillion dollar companies like Google and now Microsoft failed with this vision, why does Sony (an electronics company) think their future is 'wherever there is computing'?, it's honestly concerning
