Do they honestly believe after this ABK acquisition saga it will happen.

Not to forget the Sony influence in Japan. It’s a protected company.

Protected from foreign acquisition and letting foreign companies affect it.

Japan couldn’t do much cause ABK isn’t Japanese but you can bet it will if Microsoft came for a Japanese publisher.

Sega has got to be the funniest acquisition to gain a foothold in Japan.

They have no foothold there and Sonic isn’t even popular.

If Microsoft can lobby to their politicians in their home turf what makes people think Sony won't do the same to theirs? Sony has really close ties to the government bank of Japan for one. If Microsoft wants to cross that road trying to come over there and grab publishers, they will be in for a massive political storm that they won't see coming. Also, if you guys noticed the Japanese gaming industry has really been not giving a shit bout acquisition and consolidation. It hasn't been a constant topic taking the world by storm over there like it has been here stateside. The whole MS-ABK deal never made front page news over in Japan. But yeah I am so glad this ABK deal is officially done so we can move on to HOPEFULLY hearing from PlayStation and what they got cooking cause for the love of Christ open your mouth PlayStation! You shouldn’t expect some big acquisition this year. Maybe if rumours true then Pearl Abyss. With FY2024 they will reallocate new budgets for M&As. Next fiscal year Sony will make big moves. Hiroki Totoki is very pro acquiring IPs.

Japan had its M&A spree a twenty years ago. Literally every major player except Nintendo (and Capcom? Did Capcom buy anyone?) brought or merged with someone.

The more I think about it the more I feel like CD Project would fit Sony perfectly. It would be a direct counter to Bethesda, has two powerful IPs and currentlty developing another new IP and they also plan to further expand their IP to film & tv and which would also fit to Sony.

Recently played Cyberpunk 2077 and the quality in this game, from a story and a technical point of view is up
there with one of the best.

You can add Pac-man and Tales on your list and I'm still not interested. I don't see what Bandai brings to Sony for that amount of money. It would be the less hype acquisition ever. People will just shrug.

Well, if Sony acquires a major publisher, you know people are going to pretend to be upset by saying Sony is going to make their games exclusive to PlayStation.

They're also going to ask Microsoft to block the deal.
