Sony's PS6 will use AMD's UDNA GPU architecture and ZEN5 or ZEN6 for CPU. Sony's upcoming handheld will also use AMD hardware.

I should love to see Sony going ARM + nVidia.
But sadly they will stick with AMD :(

Can't wait for the biggest PlayStation ever created.
I will buy day one anyway.

BTW unless AMD has drastic changes for mobile market... they APUs are not fit for a portable PlayStation... I don't want a portable PS huge like Steam Deck and with less than 2 hours battery life.

I can't see a day where PS5 level hardware will be considered obsolete for gaming. Cross generation should go until 2035 thanks to diminishing returns in HW.

Talk of a ps6 feels rushed in 2024. Even if we are officially halfway through the generation it feels it just barely started

Sony and Microsoft coming for nintendos ground in the handheld space. I really wonder how the switch 2 sales look with more competition.

Not that much different than the original.

1: Microsoft's going for a PC handheld-style device. It'll be compatible with Xbox software binaries but it's really a bridge to solidifying their gaming space through Windows. They won't have the volumes of Nintendo or Sony.
2: Sony's handheld will likely act as an extension of the console library-wise, and and sold as a companion device in markets where the console will remain strong (America, most of Europe etc.) while positioned as a more viable alternative main access point in markets where console is weak (Japan, etc.). So its volume will depend heavily on which markets have portable priority vs. which don't.

In either case, Nintendo should get more 3P AAA support with Switch 2, and I think they'll lean into their own IP for platform-exclusive bonus content to drive demand for their hardware and 3P releases on their system for multiplats. Even if that also result in people still getting multiplats on PS & Xbox as well, it acts as a net gain for Nintendo and 3P devs/pubs.

I imagine they'll mostly do this with Japanese 3P, but will push with Western 3P where it makes sense for growth (e.g Take Two, Ubisoft, EA). That and their own 1P exclusives will be more than enough against whatever portable plans Sony, Microsoft, Valve etc. have.

Believe it or not, others can grow in the portable space but that doesn't mean Nintendo has to shrink to facilitate it.

A handheld that can play games natively instead of having to connect to your PS5, is a very intriguing idea to me. Have both the PSP and the Vita, both of which I still occasionally use. With the PS Plus library, you don't even have to buy digitally to utilize the handheld.

i think next gen PlayStation will truly breach the gap between PC and Console, you'll see 60fps Fidelity Modes and 120 fps Performance Modes with the best AI upscaling technology on a Console

By the time 2027, 2028 comes, PS5 owners are gonna want a PS6. I know I will. But yes its been a weird generation for all consoles owners.

An E3 that makes publishers like Sony have to show games to compete and look good is needed. I dont like this march at the beat of your own drum events Sony has done the last 5 years

So instead of combining 2 hardware into 1 powerhouse they will follow Xbox & have 2 piece of hardware that will effect both of them sales wise & development wise. Big mistake.

Follow Nintendo that’s the key to success

Unless there hybrid handheld both Xbox & PS handheld won’t be anywhere near Nintendo Switch handhelds.

You have to consider buying a PS6/Xbox for $600 & a PS/Xbox handheld for $400-$500 while it likely not being able to play PS6 games so really what’s the point. Now if PS combine traditional console & handheld & made a hybrid handheld like Nintendo Switch where the PS6 is a hybrid handheld less focus on power & more focus on exclusive games & they acquire Fromsoft & Square Enix & made those games permanent exclusive + bring other Japanese/platformer PS games then you might have a case (which rn PS output can’t even compete w Nintendo Switch output in its last year of life, PS stands no chance)

Nintendo Switch 2 will get more if not all 3rd party day n date. Publishers aren’t going to miss out when Xbox as a platform is dead. And I suspect Nintendo to use there ip for Nintendo exclusive content for 3rd party to drive Nintendo & Nintendo gamers as both a benefit & the best place to play the definitive version of said 3rd party games since it has exclusive content. Maybe w Herman & Totoki short sighted leadership we see might see ratchet & clank, horizon monster huhter, gow release on Nintendo Switch 2 w sum being day n date like Lego Horzion it’s clear PS/Sony isn’t playing the long game more they care about the PS platform/storefront & ecosystem.

PS still wasting money on exclusivity locking games on Xbox when there a dead competitor while letting Valve/Steam & Nintendo run freely. If anything PS needs to do exclusive deals locking out Steam & Nintendo maybe 3rd party studios can release on PS console & PS PC launcher to still be on PC while still competing against other competitors platform/storefront

A handheld you say? I wonder who said that 6 months ago? Oh wait, that was me. lol

Seriously, you could see Sony and Microsoft doing a portable handheld from a mile away once they both saw the success of the Switch. Very easy to predict.
