This will be the first Bungie game to use a commercial engine like Unreal, as the developer has only used its in-house proprietary Tiger Engine (previously Blam Engine) for both Destiny and Halo games.

Bungie aims to create a new genre for this sci-fi IP, taking inspiration from “fighting games, platformers, MOBAs, life sims, and frog-type games,” as confirmed by the developer.

So another GaaS. Pass. Relegating a studio that made Halo to multiplayer only projects is a shame. Sony needs a SP FPS IP.
Bungie is not ever going to make a non-GaaS game, going forward. Get used to it.

I enjoy Bungie games. So Im interested.

They arent without faults but they make good gunplay and gameplay. Destiny grind sucked at times, but at least the gunplay was good

Bungie needs to do more than GAAS If they want to be a self sustaining publisher IMO

Surprised they passed on using Decima

They’ve stated for where it doesn’t fit to use tiger they would consider using other engines (non-fps). New detail from this latest report is that this new game has an isometric perspective.

Marathon uses Tiger and they’re updating it for use across multiple games.

Aztecross recently made a decent vid on Tiger’s history and the references to Bungie using unreal.
