Squadron 42 has received a 2026 release date at this year’s Citizencon and has been confirmed to have 30-40 hours of gameplay.

The announcement came following a demo of Squadron 42 at Citizencon, which showcased the game’s first chapter in spectacular fashion, featuring a prologue of a space battle that introduces players to the universe.

The demo wasn’t without its hiccups, though. Two game crashes occurred throughout the presentation, played live on stage. The second crash was comically blamed on the computer rather than the game’s unstable nature.

All that money, all of those years, just to produce a generic corridor shooter in space? Wow.

Honestly, I hope the game becomes the half life of this generation but...

This would have stopped 10 years ago if it weren't for the whales.

Whales really are the scourge of this industry, and everything goes to shit when gaming companies start focusing on them.
