Sales of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Final Fantasy XVI and Foamstars — all released exclusively for Sony Group Corp.’s PlayStation in the previous fiscal year — fell short of the Japanese game publisher’s expectations in both revenue and profit, Takashi Kiryu told analysts the previous day. The company now expects to earn an operating income of ¥40 billion this year, widely missing the average of analyst estimates of ¥57 billion. Sad to hear about FF not meeting sales expectations. Probably in part because of the * they put on every trailer.... Both were excellent games, with Rebirth being easily the game of this year, probably.

But what kind of sales did they expect from Foamstars?

Just as I thought, I hope SE can bring new life to the FF series for the next installments.

There are very good ideas in XVI and Rebirth that I would like to see in one game instead of two separate games.

This! They need something fresh, new, different and grand and it's oK if it's another JRPG but new.

Sony at least let's ND, Guerilla, Sucker Punch, etc create new worlds and ips and it's paid off.

They need something fresh, new, different and grand and it's oK if it's another JRPG but new.

But each FF is new (apart from the "real" sequels, like X-2 and the FF13 trilogy, and even there, the seques played nothing like the other entries). They only share the name and some recurring series "mascots" like Chocobos and Mogrys.
