As we close in on 15 years since the release of Battlefield 1943, and Bad Company™ 1 & 2, we are announcing that their journey is coming to an end.

Starting April 28 2023, Battlefield 1943 and Battlefield: Bad Company 1 & 2 will be removed from digital storefronts and you will no longer be able to purchase them. This is in preparation for the retirement of the online services for these titles which will happen on December 8 2023. For Bad Company 1 & 2, you can still continue playing them and use their respective offline features, such as the single player campaign. You can also read our FAQ and Service Updates for further information on the retirement of online services.

While these titles hold a special place in our heart, we’re now looking forward to creating new memories alongside you as we shift our focus towards our current and future Battlefield experiences.

With this announcement we also want to take a moment today to reflect on our time with Battlefield 1943 and, Bad Company 1 & 2. We share amazing memories of not only their development, but also playing them alongside you.

They should just drop the price on BC 1 and 2 and let people buy the campaigns. Or don't and just make it clear the titles are now SP only. Perhaps the real reason is an upcoming remake?

With Microsoft now owning cod EA is probably going to push battlefield more aggressively & of course Sony not having the marketing for cod anymore will pursue an alternative , remasters of older games people enjoyed is a good way to revitalise peoples interest in the franchise. Although personally I've never been a fan of battlefield , I prefer medal of honour

Remaster with the multiplayer would definitely get my attention. Spent fun times on PS3 with Bad Company 2 multiplayer.

Battlefield 1943 was one of my favorite multiplayer games on PS3, hopefully, EA brings these old games to modern platforms

Where it’s at.

The issue for the Bad Company games is music rights expiring.

Music licensing is a minefield, and renewing a license after a game sells a few million copies makes the licensor jack the fee up significantly, so it’s hard to blame the publisher for delisting a game running up against music rights issues.

And for everyone screeching about how this can’t happen to a physical game, you’re forgetting that very few games stay in print for even one year, which is why you never saw a physical game pulled off shelves for the same issues. A 10-year license is fine when the game is out of print for 9 of those years!
